The anticipation grows for Weekend Warriors as their return home to the Holy Grounds of Defqon.1 Weekend Festival gets closer every day. The Mecca of hardstyle music is delivering another epic edition full of the classics people know and love, like POWER HOUR, Defqon.1 Legends set, and the Warrior Workout, along with new experiences like the Defqon.1 Theatre by Sefa. For all of the newcomers heading to the festival, it may be overwhelming to experience a festival of this magnitude with so many stages, sounds, and artists. But don’t fret as we’ve got you covered with a breakdown of stages and the sounds you can expect to hear!

Similar to last year, Q-dance called upon some of the best producers to create an anthem for seven of the most iconic stages of the festival. Within these tunes, fans will find all of the sounds of Defqon.1 from euphoric and rawstyle to hardcore and so much more. With less than two weeks away from the ultimate weekend experience, let’s take a look at the Colors of Defqon.1 2023.
Explore the Harder Styles with the Colors of Defqon.1 2023
RED
The mighty RED stage is the place to be to experience the greatest artists of the harder styles. Weekend Warriors can find epic experiences like the intense POWER HOUR, The Endshow, and the Defqon.1 Legends set. Aside from these once-in-a-lifetime moments, there’s a wide variety of sounds and artists that grace the stage with their presence such as Da Tweekaz, D-Sturb, and DJ The Prophet.
This year, Hard Driver was tasked with creating the RED stage anthem, “Rise of the Tribe.” This tune perfectly encapsulates the camaraderie that comes with being an avid fan of hardstyle music. The first drop gets the party going with aggressive kicks before delivering a motivating bridge with vocals about the interconnectedness of the Weekend Warrior tribe. The melody is absolutely beautiful while the anti-climax delivers one last wave of brutality.
BLUE
The BLUE stage is the haven for the vicious sounds of rawstyle, complete with heavyweights of the scene and upcoming talents alike. Serving as the temple of raw, Weekend Warriors can indulge in the sounds of artists such as Code Black Presents BLACKOUT, Aversion, and Sickmode. This stage holds a special atmosphere of its own as every single moment is a pure spectacle with incredible lights, lasers, and moving parts.
The Purge and Adjuzt are your anthem creators for the BLUE stage with their incredible new track, “Summer Secrets.” The vocals by RXBY evoke that feel-good summer vibe where nothing matters except being surrounded by good friends and good music – a feeling no one knows but us. This record has it all from signature rawstyle sounds, energizing melodies, and monstrous screeches. After hearing this one live, Weekend Warriors will never want to leave the Holy Grounds.
UV
Back then, the UV stage was where you could find the majority of Euphoric Hardstyle acts, but this year, this unique stage will host all of the harder styles. Throughout the weekend, you can hear the spiritual sounds of Billx presents The Rave Music LIVE Show, the Italian Hardstyle tunes of Zatox, the classic records of DJ Isaac, and the ridiculous, over-the-top style of “D:/CHILDHOOD/TRAUMA/GPF/LIVE/THEPIEPSHOW2023.WAV.” For fans that are all over the music spectrum or fans that don’t know what they’re looking for, there will be something here for you at all times over the weekend.
In addition to the amazing guests set to take the stage at the UV, Atmozfears and Sound Rush are bringing their 2▲1 project to life on Friday. You’ll surely hear their latest record, EP 1, which includes this year’s UV stage anthem, “Warriors Unite.” This tune seamlessly combines the best of both acts as Atmozfears delivers his pounding kick drums and Sound Rush brings their unmatched mastery of melodies, creating a tune that awakes everybody’s warrior within.
INDIGO
If you’re a Weekend Warrior that is searching for that extra pinch of energy in your raw tunes, the INDIGO stage is perfect for you. As the home for XTRA Raw hardstyle, this dome of madness pushes the limits of your endurance and only the strongest Warriors survive. Only artists that have proven themselves to be a master of loud music will grace the stage like Krowdexx, Anderex, and So Juice.
Scarra joins the list of booming raw artists set to play at the INDIGO, and he is also responsible for creating the stage anthem, “Arise,” featuring RXBY. Scarra breaks down the walls of rawstyle music in a record that delivers a lethal dose of cold-blooded distortion in the first two drops. The second half completely switches the energy with a melody sent from Hard Dance Heaven and a final drop that proves even rawstyle can be beautiful.
PURPLE
The PURPLE stage has been known to host the future of the harder styles today! Known as the birthplace of legends, the PURPLE stage has been home to the debuts of the biggest acts ever in hardstyle like Headhunterz, B-Front, Phuture Noize, and more! This year, Weekend Warriors will be able to find the most gifted acts that are itching to have their breakout moment such as A-RIZE, Exproz, and the first-ever Colombian woman performing at Defqon.1, Maria Paz.
On Saturday, Maxtreme will be taking the stage with a set full of “Love, Bass, & Happiness.” He’s representing this iconic stage with his euphoric anthem which is nothing but good vibes and uplifting sounds. His technical prowess shines brightly throughout by taking modern elements of hard dance and blending them with the spirit of classic euphoric hardstyle, proving that the next generation of artists is in very good hands.
BLACK
The BLACK stage is for the ultimate Weekend Warriors that take their intensity up one more notch. As the home for speedy kickdrums, the BLACK will be represented by the best in hardcore music like Deadly Guns, Dr. Peacock, and Art of Fighters. In addition, the legendary Angerfist will be in charge of The Spotlight where you’ll be sure to hear the Defqon.1 2023 BLACK OST, “Blackness.“
One of the rising names in hardcore, Hysta, created the anthem for the BLACK stage this year in a banging collaboration with Tha Watcher. This record captures the strength that comes with being a part of the hardcore army with motivational lyrics about not moving for anybody and staying until the battle is won. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that hardcore heads “outlast the last ones that get blasted [their] way.”
YELLOW
The final stage in the Colors of Defqon.1 2023 is none other than the YELLOW. This stage is reserved only for the most extreme of the Weekend Warriors as uptempo, terror, and Frenchcore come together throughout the weekend to deliver the ultimate dose of adrenaline no matter what time you stop by. This year, Lil Texas and Levenkhan will be representing the States while Lunakorpz, The Satan, Angernoizer, and more are bringing destruction and chaos through their performances.
Unproven joins the list of DJs set to perform at the YELLOW and represents this insane stage with his track, “Dirty Thoughts.” Although the YELLOW is known for its extreme noises, this track contains the brutal sounds of hardcore into an easily digestible record that sprinkles in a bright melody backed by monstrous kick drums. If you’re having any dirty thoughts about going extreme, come explore them at the craziest stage of them all!
