So come with me as I embark on a journey of trance exploration laid out by one of the most respectable and reputable acts in the industry!
Before we begin, Cosmic Gate offers their thoughts on their artist selection for Wake Your Mind Sessions 003:
“we were blessed with a mass of exclusive track submissions from young & upcoming producers. In the end there proved to be too much great work to choose from! (We wanna send an especially big shout out to all the producers from around the world who sent us tracks!!). In the end we signed material from Australia’s Markus Santoro, Patrick White from Poland, Holland’s Noise Zoo and Greenhaven DJs from the USA. All exclusive on this album and later to be released on our label WYM Records. Keep a close ear out for them. Nic & I reckon you’re going to be hearing a lot more from these guys in the future!!”

Mix 01 ignites the flame with a brilliant blend of tech and progressive trance.
Broken into two tantalizing chapters of sound it is Mix 01 that goes hand in hand for a daytime retreat to the beach, a laidback house party featuring your best friends and family, or the perfect selection for a long drive across town. Opening with the easy listening Cosmic Gate & JES classic “Fall Into You”, the stage is quickly set for a sweet musical journey that lands softly on the eardrums.
As we dive headfirst into musical bliss it is the progressive and groovy tech trance offerings that formulate this mix into one hell of a smooth ride. As Di Rugerio sets us up for a quick hypno session on “Aeternis”, all of our cares and stress seem to fade away. Already fully submerged in the feel-good vibes, the Anjunadeep vocal stunner “Nothing Without You” by Tinlicker featuring the brilliant voice of Thomas Oliver brings us to our first peak. As I kick back and let the melody take over my soul, I have found my zen.
Suddenly, a turn of events.
With that ever familiar techno kick to lead the way, we plummet into the Paul Thomas & K3V party pumper called “Aquamarina” and instantly I feel the urge to get up and bust a move! Marking the first momentous build in rhythm and energy it becomes clear that this album plans on covering it all. From the laid back all the way to the get your booty on the dance floor productions, it is clear that Cosmic Gate wants to showcase it all. And as a trance lover of all subgenres, I truly appreciate their creative vision.
With that being said, even Above & Beyond has a place among Wake Your Mind Sessions 003! As Spencer Brown shows us what he is made of on his rendition of “Northern Soul,” we travel back once again to find the honest and unwavering peace that characterizes every creative choice in this first mix. But, it is Max Ruby’s “Awaiting” that stands out as an instant highlight as those techy vibes creep in once again. We seem to be in the midst of a perfect ying-yang scenario as chill meets upbeat.
Cosmic Gate & Alastor wants us to “Fight The Feeling” but we just want it to take over our soul!
Halfway through Mix 01 and we are feeling every ounce of the energy as the Wake Your Mind gurus Cosmic Gate prepare us for a non-apologetic celebration of dance. Are you ready for the madness? Because from here on out, we begin to climb into the clouds of heaven. With tracks from future Wake Your Mind artists Greenhaven DJs on “The Unexamined” and melodic house and progressive tastemaker Tim Mason on “Switcher”, the glorious shift in sound sends us into a tailspin.
Of course, what compilation album would not be complete without a little love from Emma Hewitt! As we approach the closing of Mix 01, Fatum’s Remix of “Tonight” provides us with the sweet cherry on top as Emma’s voice brings us back to a moment of nostalgia as we reminisce about the first time we heard this track at our favorite festival. It is Cosmic Gate who will lead us home with their unique take on Gabriel & Dresden featuring Sub Teal’s “Only Road”. By now, we are primed and ready for the next journey that awaits us in Mix 02!
Mix 02 brings the festival mainstage straight through our speakers and into our home!
Bursting out of the gate with Estiva’s remix of Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab‘s “Noom”, we are welcomed home to dance under the lasers and romp among the masses as moving forward it is the mainstage madness that steals the show. With offerings that urge us to lift our hands to the heavens, the tracks chosen for the latter half of the mixcomp are saturated in heavy synths and cloaked in billowing melodies that would bond perfectly with the visual stimulation provided flawlessly at the events we love most.
Take one listen to Noise Zoo’s “Freefall” and Cosmic Gate & JES’s “If Not Now” (Club Mix) and we are transported back to that place where all that matters is the emotions that reveal themselves through the raw power of rhythm meets heavenly melody, an indispensable element of any great festival track. In case you need any convincing, Patrick White has got you covered as “Reason” unveils our true reason for falling so deeply in love with the mainstage sound.
Hold onto your hats because we are about to dive down into the rabbit hole!
So here we are at the pinnacle of the album and in true creative fashion, why not take a leap into the depths of the underground for a moment of hair standing insanity? Leading us in for a quick trip session, Cosmic Gate & Ferry Corsten lead us to the gates of the dark domain on “Dynamic”, a track that nods to the true dynamics within the artists who never cease to deliver a vast array of production character and vibes each and every time they hit the studio.
But, Cosmic Gate doesn’t want us to get trapped in the darkness for too long, so to achieve the perfect balance, Marcus Santoro has been invited to guide us back to reality with “Whispers”, leading us back to our spot at the mainstage with Dennis Kenzo & Clara Yates’ “Other Side”. Now, I truly hope you are still with me because it’s here that we begin to release our final inhibitions and get lost in the driving enchantment with Rafael Frost’s take on the Cosmic Gate & Sarah Lynn classic called “Folded Wings”
The album may be coming to a close, but the rhythm stays locked forever within our hearts!
Here we are, face to face with the final four tracks, and the energy is now flooding through every inch of our body! And what could be more perfect than a little mash-up action to ramp things up a little bit more? Cosmic Gate vs. Third Party “Like This Body Of Conflict” (Cosmic Gate Mash Up) flawlessly delivers the vibes as our roller coaster ride reaches its final drop. As we plummet into a world of pure happiness, Arkham Knights takes on Fred Baker with “Total Vibration” and at this point, if your body is not fully vibrating with energy, then I would suggest you check your pulse!
I can imagine the laser beams flying over my head as Leo Reyes’ remix of Cosmic Gate & Markus Schulz‘s “AR” soars through the big speakers. This is what we live for and this is the music that brings all of our passion to life. Call me a nut for the big festival sound but can you even deny the power that lingers through the gritty synths and pulse-pounding basslines? As Marco V, one of the most celebrated trance pioneers, closes our journey, all I want to do is travel back to the beginning and embark on the expedition one more time! My hats off to Nic & Bossi as this is a compilation that has literally left no stone and no emotion unturned!
