Sydney Blu And Shelley Johannson Spend Time 'Getting Closer' In The Studio

**Sydney Blu and Shelley Johannson have officially unveiled their debut collaboration, Getting Closer. It’s out now on Truesoul!**

Since Shelley Johannson made her first appearance on Drumcode back in 2019 with “Raze” on A-Sides Vol. 8, the label has been closely following her progress. She consistently proved her power on the dance floor, so Adam Beyer made the right choice to circle back and give the green light for a package on Drumcode’s sister label, Truesoul. For this go-round, she’s joined by none other than Blu Music boss and chair of JUNO’s Underground Dance Single category, Sydney Blu. Together, they’ve delivered Getting Closer.

“We deeply admire each other’s work and serendipitously crossed paths at Electric Island, a festival in Toronto last year. Engaging in a brief conversation, we swiftly decided to dive into the studio and create an EP exclusively for Truesoul. After six months of dedicated effort, the EP was completed and signed by the label. It was an immensely exciting and focused endeavor that we undertook solely for this esteemed record label!

Get closer with your rave fam as you gather ’round the speakers to explore a dramatic sonic atmosphere. The title track smashes it out of the gate with a determined kick drum decorated by soul-stimulating claps. Of course, they say the devil is in the details and a great techno tune just isn’t complete without a hellish vocal. These women come correct with a vocal that will linger long in your nightmares while the consistent lead synths keep your hairs standing in salute.

On the flip side, Sydney and Shelley present “Drive Me Crazy.” With just one listen you’ll be making your way straight to your therapist’s office! From its sizzling bassline to its brooding synths and just a hint of vocals for added intrigue, the fragile mind will be turned inside out by this track. All the listener needs are a few aggressive strobes to complete the experience, not to mention a dance floor packed with their fellow underground beat seekers.
