In honor of #TranceGiving, aka Dreamstate SoCal 2016 we want to give festival attendees the opportunity to get to know the talent who will be our “Trancegiving Tour Guides”. Each week, we will feature bio’s of four Dreamstate DJ’s as well as a set from one of their latest events or some recent releases so you can get to know them better. Next in our series is… Captain Hook!

Captain Hook:

Reshef Harari, aka Captain Hook began his musical journey at the ripe old age of 15. An avid collector of vinyl and passionate behind the turntables Reshef was destined to become successful in the art of music production and DJing. A couple years of practice would soon bring him into the scene DJing at parties and honing his skills as a music entertainer. It was during these years that Reshef would fall head over heals in love with the trance genre, looking up to artists such as XV Kilist and Bitmonks and Paste. But it didn’t just stop at minimal trance. The magical sounds of psytrance would peak his interest and through his brother Rahav and Isreal’s Psytrance pioneer Asher Haviv, he would find his place.

Landing a job in a sound company was next on the agenda which would only better his abilities as a producer and musical technician all the while continuing to light up the dance floor at underground parties. And boy did this pay off. In 2003 Reshef would have a meeting with Avi Nini, the owner of Domo Records which would ultimately lead to signing with the label. A major milestone for an incredibly driven man. But it was in 2011 when the true Captain Hook would be revealed to the world with the release of his debut album ‘Human Design‘. This album would take the Captain on a 3 year journey across the world building inspiration for years to come. During this time Captain Hook would begin to turn the heads of trance fans all over the planet and reveal some amazing collaborations with the likes of Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul, Perfect Stranger, Loud, Tetrameth, Freedom Fighters and ill. Gates. Follow that in 2013 with a double remix album called ‘Akashic Library‘ and the stage was set for this trace maestro to take on the world.

Captain Hook 2016:

Today Captain Hook continues his musical journey traveling the world and spreading the word of trance at countless festivals and events like Boom Festival in Portugal and Wild Summer Festival in Canada. He is currently getting ready for the release of his exceptional remix of Atmos- “The Only Process”. If you haven’t heard this track I would suggest you stop what you are doing and take a listen. It is an outstanding piece of trance perfection and one that needs to be shared with everyone who will listen. What a perfect way to lead into the coming months as he prepares to play at Dreamstate SoCal. When Captain Hook Hits the stage this November at the NOS Center in San Bernardino, he will shake the game up with a set that will no doubt leave us begging for more! I cannot wait to see what he has planned.
