Nicole Moudaber and famed Club Space doorman Alan T come together on The Volume and deliver an accompanying music video!

As Nicole Moudaber prepares to celebrate seven years of In The Mood this May with an episode featuring special guests to be announced, the Queen has outdone herself with a genius EP called, The Volume. Not only does this two-track package slap with the heavy underground vibe that Nicole’s famous for but the enthralling enigma known as Alan T has joined in on the project! With the megaphone-wielding doorman on the job, you can expect a whole lot of pizzaz to come flooding through the speakers.

Megaphone wielding doorman? Yes, that’s right! If you’ve ever been to Club Space Miami then you already know. For everyone else, he’s the dynamic gentleman welcoming you to the party. And beyond his dazzling no-holds-barred fashion choices, club-goers fall under his charm as he engages you in fulfilling conversations about his wild and wacky career on the club circuit. In addition to also being an architect and visual artist, you can hear Alan T’s vocals on the iconic Circuit Boy track “The Door”, released in 1996.

These days everyone wants to get their hands on the innovative stylings of Alan T both inside and outside of the LGBTQ scene. He delivered fierceness in spades on the 2020 release “Extasis Drama” alongside Jesus Montanez as well as on the phenomenal pandemic anthem “Stay The Fuck Home” with Guy Scheiman. His colorful career has led him to the studio of Nicole Moudaber and today we celebrate what’s considered to be her “most liberally untethered work to date.”

Grab your copy of The Volume on your favorite music platform, stream the EP below, and continue on for the music video and my take on the tracks!

The Volume pays homage to the heart of club life and puts us in the mood to get down and dirty!

I hope you’re ready for the jolt because the title track comes in overflowing with counterculture electricity! The lyrics, delivered by Alan T, are all about volume control and how it’s innately connected to body control, an experience felt deep within the spirit of the rave. In order to achieve its purpose, Nicole turns to percussive elements and a laser-like melodic atmosphere to build a consistent vibration that creeps into the ear. The vocal spreads like a kick of euphoria all the way down to your toes. Listening to this track will make you feel like the first time you stepped into the underground, awed by the realization that you’ve found your tribe.

“The Music Is Mine” brings both Alan T and Moudaber’s voices together, echoing and reverberating atop a chunky bassline drive. This track is balanced with incredibly quirky moments and hardcore tech energy. It will trip you out and send you through the wormhole as your body undulates to the industrial synth forms, swirling and whirling through the last two minutes of the track. In my personal opinion, to hear this in a gritty warehouse space or under the intense lighting production of a festival would be life-altering. It’s giving me chills just thinking about it.

The music video for “The Volume” was filmed entirely at Club Space and allows Alan T to glisten as the focal point in the venue that he’s dedicated his life.

Alan T is STUNNING as the main character in a video that brings “The Volume” to life and I feel like shouting my love from the rooftops. It begins with the fashionista posing alone in a blue-washed room, holding his faithful megaphone. He slays in a futuristic silver outfit, glittered and shining from head to toe, emitting a type of confidence that I can only dream of.

From here we begin to see clips of Nicole doing what she does best behind the decks, entertainers getting ready in the dressing room, close-ups of painted faces, and eyes-closed-clubgoers feeling the music as it saturates Club Space. Throughout the video, we have the honor of seeing Alan T control the shenanigans as the MC, in a way reminiscent of underground culture.

The vibe is ultra sexy and while the track speaks of control, all I can feel is pure and unadulterated freedom as the crowd soaks up the rhythm. There are even moments of debauchery that the outside world may consider a bit taboo. But for us, it’s all part of unchained personal expression. We congregate on the dancefloor to escape the pressures of life and society and this video offers a visually stunning peek into our crazy world.
