Lubelski’s Happy Accidents is back and overflowing with remixes from Skream, Mary Droppinz, RYBO, Danny Goliger, and more!
Lubelski is one of the most interesting creatives to ever step onto the scene, a multi-instrumental madman that pours his thoughts into music via a wide variety of producer tools, none of which make him quite as happy as analog and modular synthesizers. In fact, his 2021 album Happy Accidents was born out of his obsession, an eccentric journey of sound that took off after his synth jam session on Dirtybird’s Twitch channel. Now, a year and a half later, Lubelski has brought back the project to see where his Dirtybird friends and family could take it, resulting in Happy Accidents Remixes!
Let’s take a look at some of the artists invited to flex their skills. As the opener, Roman Flügel takes us to the “Asylum” by injecting even more chaos into a bonkers piece of work, setting the tone for what would reveal itself to be a boundary-free platform full of sideways self-expression. For example, AK Sports let her acid-twinged techno side run rampant all over “Macrodose,” turning the semi-chill original into a no-holds-barred underground sensation. Danny Goliger is another artist worth mentioning when it comes to fully flipping the script. He took on “Just The Way” featuring Ardalan, slicing and dicing the original in a way that tickles the brain into submission.
Cruising through a couple more standouts, NYC’s rising star WhereIsFenix deserves all the applause because his Punisher remix of “Satisfied” featuring Danke blends the sexy tone of the original with quirky sci-fi bleeps and blips, culminating in a frisky dance session in the stars. While you’re up there, Troy Kurtz will ensure the session moves deep into the after-hours with his dark and rowdy take on “You Keep Me Up Late.”
Of course, some tracks were just too sought after to result in just one new offering, so you’ll get to enjoy two new brain-bending experiments on “Ice Cream Cone,” a collaboration with Claude VonStroke and Life On Planets, touched up by Skream with both a 909 Mix and Modular Mix. In addition, Mary Droppinz and Red Eye take on “Why Do You Do The Things You Do,” while “Diffuser” gets three facelifts by the likes of Black Loops (1AM and 4AM mixes) and RYBO.
Curiously, the only track that hasn’t received the remix treatment is “Happy Accidents” itself, maybe because Lubelski wants to keep this as his own, untouched and true, or maybe it’ll pop up as an extra treat to enjoy at a later date. But whether that happens or not, this group of remixes will keep fans doing the happy dance well into the future.
