The Distinct Motive ID that fans have been losing their minds over for months has finally been released on Deadbeats.

While fans of underground dubstep have known the name Distinct Motive for quite some time, it’s safe to say the Canadian producer has had the biggest year of his career in 2023. He had a stacked year of touring, from joining the likes of Deep, Dark, and Dangerous in numerous cities to coveted festivals like Infrasound and even joining Subtronics at the Tacoma Dome. Meanwhile, all of Distinct Motive’s unreleased tunes were blowing up before fans even knew their names.

The excitement surrounding his summer EP, Snakes, was through the roof as he and other DJs teased those tracks for months. The two tunes immediately became true dubstep anthems for the summer of 2023, with one being appointed Duploc‘s Dubstep Track of The Year. Just as quickly as the Snakes EP was released, however, fans were already beginning to catch on to a new huge ID from Distinct Motive.

After months of this new mystery track steadily blowing up across the community and being referred to as “Distinct Motive ID,” Deadbeats announced that the sought-after tune would be the label’s first release of 2024 as a part of a two-track EP. This also marked Distinct Motive’s first release with Deadbeats and offers a taste of what’s in store when he takes the stage in support of Zeds Dead at their First Contact show in April.

There’s no wonder why this deep, squelchy 140 anthem has been getting mixed for months by artists like Ternion Sound, who have shown how fabulous it sounds mixed live and doubled with grime tracks. You can appreciate every detail of “Mellow Man” and its addicting beat, down to the silly samples thrown throughout. The full track even contains a previously unheard second drop that shakes up the satisfying beat listeners have come to know and love.

Another 140 heavy-hitter accompanies the now-famous track to make for a complete release. “Claw” pops off with that classic Distinct Motive sound once again that leaves you just unable to stop nodding your head along with the wonky beat.

Distinct Motive’s Mellow Man is out everywhere now, so be sure to set up your nearest speaker to blast these tunes from Spotify or your preferred platform to hear the madness for yourself.
