DAVI Delivers the Haunting ‘Nosferatu’ on Crosstown Rebels

DAVI heads back to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels for the third time and brings the legend of the vampire to the dancefloor with Nosferatu!

Los Angeles-based artist DAVI is no stranger to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, having graced the label with “Lie Machine” and “Without My Ways,” the latter of which ended up on Crosstown Rebels Presents Spirits ll. He was also invited to take the reins for the day on The Crosstown Mix Show back in July of this year. Today, he’s welcomed back to the imprint with a whimsical concept EP called Nosferatu – an archaic Romanian word that translates to vampire.

“Nosferatu” has all the elements needed for a sensual romp on the dancefloor under the cloak of night. From the vibrating synth stabs to the billowing bassline, the stage is set for the dark entity to creep its way in, cutting off the path of the strobing light beam. The eerie vocal further intensifies the encounter, leaving listeners shivering in fear and awaiting the bite as the robust rhythm holds them captive.

Next up is “Mirage,” and this is a tune that will make music revelers question reality as they’re swept away from eternal danger and dropped into a welcoming wonderland. Like the crash of the ocean waves, the vocal ripples through the air as the refreshing tempo pushes the body into a calm sway. But, every so often, listeners will get a hint of the nosferatu’s approach, marked by the shadow-soaked bridge to the latter half and supernatural notes that softly pulsate in the distance.

Over the past 7-10 years, I have accumulated many ideas in my hard drive that I always wanted to make into songs. Nosferatu was first made in 2014, but I never finished it. This year I went back to my old projects and brought them back to life with a newer touch. Since I am known for a specific sound and style through my productions, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone for a little and make bigger tracks for bigger dancefloors. I believe this is what I was aiming for in this EP.

Since then she has dived headfirst into the scene and is wildly passionate about the trance, techno, and house genres. Festival's like EDC, Dreamstate, and Dirtybird Campout hold the key to her soul and dance music will always and forever be a major part of her life.
