Grum Succeeds in His Search for a ‘Reconnection’

Following his jaunt into the realm of ambient soundscapes, Grum returns to Anjunabeats with the Reconnection EP to ignite dancefloors.

One of the most beloved artists on the ever-growing roster of talent at Anjunabeats is Grum. He’s carved out a niche for himself since first emerging on the scene with his unique blend of progressive and trance that draws influence from the synth-fueled ’80s and has continuously left fans craving more. From Heartbeats to Deep State and just the right amount of Human Touch, he’s been a persistent force with fresh ideas and melodic masterpieces in tow. Now, the Deep State boss returns to Anjunabeats for the second time this year with the Reconnection EP.

Back in May, Grum resurfaced on the renowned label with the Isolation EP. This four-track collection of tunes showcased a different side of the Scottish producer as he dived into the realm of ambient, cinematic soundscapes that stemmed from his time during the pandemic. But much like many other artists in the scene, Grum is gearing up to make his return to the stage – and to help mark the occasion he’s gifted the world with a second helping of tunes to groove out to on the dancefloor.

After getting the lockdown ‘Isolation EP’ out of my system, I wanted to return to some proper dance music whilst also looking to the future – so here’s a selection of tour-approved club music to lose ourselves in.

Grum

If you were missing the progressive trance masterpieces that Grum has crafted in the studio, then the Reconnection EP is for you. He begins the journey with “Sparkles” – a track that will quite literally ignite some fireworks in the mind. Close your eyes when listening to this one and you’ll immediately be transported to a festival surrounded by thousands of fellow ravers lifting their hands in the air during the build-ups and losing their minds during the breakdowns.

On the second track, “Invisible,” Grum keeps the energy levels high with a relentless ride into the twilight hours. He enlists the talents of Dom Youdan to add an extra layer to this stunner of a tune. We really “can’t go back” now because the world is a different place than it was two years ago, but that’s okay if Grum is leading the way.

The final two tracks from Grum on Reconnection show him at his finest. “Mainframe” opens with futuristic tones and robotic blips and bleeps before its melody booms into the spotlight over the hi-hats and kicks. Are we still on Earth or have we ascended to a different place in time and space? Listen to this track and you’ll find out for yourself. Then, “Dark Mode” delivers the finishing blow and does so with a groove that will surely ignite any dancefloor it gets played at. This peak-time track breaks in the middle for a bliss-filled moment that gives you a chance to breathe before descending back into a proper progressive frenzy.

Listen to the latest soundscapes that Grum has created on the Reconnection EP by tuning in on Spotify or your preferred platform, and let us know which track was your favorite in the comments!
