Jerro Draws Us ‘Closer’ with New EP on This Never Happened

Jerro returns to Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint with Closer, a five-track EP that’s a journey through melodic downtempo soundscapes.

Over the past few years, Jerro has been making waves with his gorgeous melodic house and downtempo production. From releases on Anjunadeep to Lane 8‘s imprint, This Never Happened, he continues to blossom and solidify his place in the electronic music scene. With two successful EP’s in 2019 alone, we knew this burgeoning artist had more tricks up his sleeve. Today, Jerro has returned to his familiar home with the Closer EP, a masterfully produced, five-track release with atmospheric, dreamy tones that progressively dive deeper with each song.

Earlier this week, Jerro gave us a sneak peek into the EP with the single release of “Demons” with Sophia Bel. From his effortless arrangement of Sophia’s voice, you’d be surprised to find out that this is only his second track to feature vocals, following “Tunnel Vision” earlier this year. He also paired it with a fantastic visualizer to further immerse listeners in the track.

The next track, “Mouie” boasts all of that melodic goodness that Jerro is all about. The comforting piano melody is complemented by waves of bright beats and a faded, uplifting chant. Following in a similar vein, “Closer” begins with an airy gentleness that gains momentum with deeper, progressive influences.

Piggybacking off of that drive, Jerro jumps into a higher tempo and brings a heavier bassline with “Ignis” while retaining his weightless signature as well. Closing out the EP, “Sturdy” ventures into darker territory with mechanical descents and space-age sounds create a hypnotic soundscape that sets this track apart from the rest and leaves you wanting more.

I personally think it’s my best work to date and This Never Happened is the perfect label for it. The EP has a little something for everyone, ‘Ignis’ and ‘Demons’ are sure to be crowd-pleasers, ‘Mouie’ and ‘Closer’ are great listener tracks and ‘Sturdy’ is one for my dedicated fans. Hope you enjoy!
