#TBT || Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child

Let’s make Swedish House Mafia Great Again!

Seriously, this needs to happen. The dynamic trio from Sweden played their final show at Ultra Miami in 2013. Made up of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, Swedish House Mafia found one another in late 2008 and every day after took the world by storm. They were called the “faces of progressive house music” by many, where still others loathed their sound.

Regardless of what side you found yourself on, the argument can be made that these three went down as of one of the biggest electronic music groups of all time. That is why this week we honor one of their most memorable songs, “Don’t You Worry Child”, a song beloved by audiences and other DJs alike.

Matoma played this song in its entirety at Panorama this past weekend, and when he did, there was not a single person within my immediate vicinity that was not singing. Trust me, I looked around. With that being said, I was never able to see this song performed by the trio but if I felt that type of energy when another DJ played it, I can only imagine the greatness that was felt at Ultra 2013.

This song gave me such feels every time I heard it, and sometimes even goosebumps. The lyrics were something so many could relate to: the love of a parent and the love of someone no longer in your life. I remember seeing the live stream back in 2013, tears rolling down so many faces as this song echoed through Bay Front. That is why I say that no matter what you personally feel, like or dislike, you cannot watch reactions like the one I saw and not give this trio their due credit.

Swedish House Mafia – “Don’t You Worry Child” Lyrics

There was a time
I used to look into my father’s eyes.
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a golden throne.
Those days are gone,
Now the memory’s on the wall.
I hear the songs
From the places where I was born.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That’s where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind.
We ruled the world,
I thought I’d never lose her out of sight.
We were so young,
I think of her now and then.
I still hear the songs
Reminding me of a friend.

Upon a hill across a blue lake,
That’s where I had my first heartbreak.
I still remember how it all changed.

My father said,
“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh!

See heaven’s got a plan for you
See heaven’s got a plan for you
See heaven’s got a plan for you

“Don’t you worry, don’t you worry, child.
See heaven’s got a plan for you.
Don’t you worry, don’t you worry now.”
Yeah!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! [3x]
Yeah!

Christopher Rivera

Christopher, or Brown Bear as his Festival Family and most of his friends call him, got his humble beginnings in the dance music scene when he was a child from none other than his mother. The weekends were filled with dance music from the 80’s and 90’s like La Bouche’s “Be My Lover” and Corona’s “Rhythm of the Night”. In 2010 his friends showed him a video from Bonnaroo of Pretty Light’s “I Know the Truth” and he immediately dived on in. Since then he has attended every live music festival from Spirit of Suwannee’s, Purple Hatters Ball (Jam Bands), to Let It Roll Drum & Bass Festival in the Czech Republic. Chris has an eclectic palate for music; from Shpongle and Bassnectar to Oliver Heldens and Porter Robinson, he vibes with it all. He has traveled from coast to coast and around the world looking what he calls The Bear Necessities of Life; the simple things that make you smile, or you find visually moving. This pursuit and travels inspired Bearlosophy, his photographic journal of all his adventures. He aspires to travel the world taking photos for non-profit organizations or to work for one of the top EDM photography teams like aLIVE Coverage.
