#TBT || Markus Schulz Pres. Dakota – Sleepwalkers

Today’s #TBT is very special. With the recent announcement that Markus Schulz will be bringing his Dakota alias to Dreamstate at Tao during EDC Week 2016, it’s appropriate that we showcase what the Dakota flavor is all about. The perfect track to highlight from Markus’s Dakota project is a personal favorite of mine, “Sleepwalkers”. “Sleepwalkers” was released in 2011 on Markus Schulz’s Thoughts Become Things II album in which he focused on and explored the darker side of trance.

The track begins with a gradual build as any glorious trance piece does. It sets the tone and gets the vibe going, then progressively leads you into the meat and potatoes of the track. This is where the magic happens! With a crescendo, the notes begin to climb and dip, ebb and flow. It takes you on, what I dub, a trance roller coaster! But, it doesn’t end there. Suddenly, the melody changes again into something dark and mysterious — a great touch to bring everything back together and leave the listener craving more! I know you are gonna love this track!
