Music connects each and every one of us, whether you are listening to trance, house, dubstep, or any other genre, we are all one with the beat. Exploring new genres and artists.is a crucial element to falling deeper in love with music and opening doors to new experiences in life. Every week we will be taking you on a journey of musical discovery, highlighting five new tracks that we are currently tuned in to. To end, and start the year off properly, the next two weeks feature a special edition of The Launch in a back-to-back series presented to you by… Grace Backer & Connor Taylor.
Grace’s Blurb
This week Connor and I thought we’d combine forces for a b2b edition of the last Launch of 2016. Our top tracks of right now include everything from Drezo to San Holo to lots of Adventure Club. Whether you’re listening in the car, at work, or at a pre party, all of these tracks are sure to turn things up and make your day infinitely better.
Connor’s Blurb
After working with Grace for the past few months, it became increasingly apparent that we had extremely similar tastes in music. When the opportunity to do a special edition back-to-back series of The Launch, we both knew we had to jump on it. We sat down and started listing what songs had repeated on our playlists over the past month. Each list we came up with was extremely similar. From there we ranked each song of our Top 10 and came up with our combined Top 5. Our list features an eclectic mix of Trap, Dubstep, Future Bass, and Deep House. Read on as we show you what has pleased our ears in this week’s edition of The Launch!

5. Dreams (feat. ELEA) (NIGHTOWLS & Fransis Derelle Remix) – Adventure Club
Fransis Derelle – Facebook | SoundCloud || NIGHTOWLS – Facebook | SoundCloud
We were completely blown away by this remix by NIGHTOWLS and Fransis Derelle. As huge fans of Adventure Club, admitting that a remix is better than their original isn’t easy, but this one might do it. Speeding up the original and adding in more synths in the drop for a future bass feel, this is one of those songs that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. I (Connor) have had the distinct pleasure of meeting and talking with Fransis Derelle on more than one occasion. After meeting him for the first time you can see that’s he a genuine, down to earth, incredibly fun person to be around. That personality shines through perfectly in this collaboration with NIGHTOWLS.

4. Light – San Holo
San Holo – Facebook | SoundCloud
Sander van Dijck better known by his stage moniker as San Holo has had an incredible year filled with huge collaborations, noteworthy festival sets, and even touring on Porter Robinson & Madeon‘s “Shelter” Tour. He couldn’t have ended it better than with the release of his track “Light”. The happy melody, incredible production, and uplifting lyrics put this song at the top of all of our playlists this month. San Holo’s signature synth progression shines through impeccably throughout the track as the song builds the vocal is front and center before dropping into a futuristic, mellowed out bass drop reminiscent of classic San Holo tracks like “We Rise“, and “Fly”
3. Prisoner – Drezo
Drezo – Facebook | SoundCloud
As one of the only house music tracks sandwiched in a playlist of primarily bass music, you know “Prisoner” has to be something special to make the list. After teasing us with the track for too long, Drezo finally dropped Prisoner last week and it does not disappoint. Staying true to his signature dark, deep house sound that we have been loving, “Prisoner” is sure to get you grooving along whenever you throw it on. The track features a heavy kick that punches you in the chest as it hits, with the melody being the most notable part of the track with just enough vocal to keep you interested.
2. Alpha – Vincent
Vincent – Facebook | SoundCloud
Vincent has long been an artist that us here at EDM Identity have followed closely for some time. Whenever we see a release of his hits our inbox our faces light up like a kid on Christmas morning. And for some time fans of Vincent had been asking “Where did XVII go?” With “Alpha” he let us know that XVII never went anywhere. Vincent absolutely stunned us with this insane new track. His song description on SoundCloud says it all: “going back to my roots with this hard shit… I know a lot of people have been asking what happened to XVII but if this doesn’t show you he’s alive and well in Vincent then I’m not sure what will.” The heavy trap drop will turn any pregame wild, trust us we’ve tried it. It features the a slow, melodic, and methodical build up as the claps get faster, and the classic “XVII” track style comes in as the drop leaves nothing to chance and hits you as one of the hardest songs we’ve heard from Vincent to date.

1. Save Me (feat. Adara) – Adventure Club & Terravita
Adventure Club – Facebook | SoundCloud || Terravita – Facebook | SoundCloud
Our number 1 track this week was a no brainer. Our favorite song of their newly released album “Red // Blue,” “Save Me“ has been on repeat since the moment the album dropped. In a collaboration with Terravita, and featuring Adara, on vocals this track does not disappoint. If there was one song that showed us that the Adventure Club we fell in love with years ago is still alive and kicking this is it. It features a chill intro, a strong female vocal lead, soft claps and snare stutters, before building up with a strong kick and dropping it all over top of a loud vocal, heavy synths, and 8-bit influenced samples. It screams Adventure Club, perfectly meshing beautiful, passionate vocals and a piano build up with an electrifying dubstep drop that transports me back to their set at EDC Las Vegas. If you can only put one song from the album into a playlist for the rest of your life, let this be it.
