Basscon Enlists the Underground for Latest 'Devotions' Chapter

**After two successful editions, Basscon Records continues to enlighten the scene with gritty soundscapes on Devotions: Chapter III!**

In May 2022, Basscon Records introduced a brand-new compilation series, Devotions. This series aimed to be the experimental side of Basscon, showcasing newcomers and veterans with fresh, out-of-the-box ideas. Both volumes have been met with great success, and as a result, Basscon is back once again with another installation of the series with Devotions: Chapter III.

Similar to the previous editions, Devotions: Chapter III allows listeners to explore the different sounds and styles that make up hard dance, beginning with jaw-dropping hardcore music from plenty of celebrated artists in the worldwide scene. What stands out the most is that this volume has an extra edge and grittiness with all the hardcore sub-genres involved. For years, Basscon has had a reputation for being scared to go too fast or too underground, but this compilation is a statement to disprove this notion.

Devotions: Chapter III stays true to its vision by giving untapped talent a chance to shine on a bigger platform.

Rock out to “Whatever You Want” by Bumloco and experience the “UNDERGROUND” sounds with Reevoid and Stealth‘s epic tune. In addition, Frenchkillerz and BLACK FREQUENCY stop by to deliver a dark and eerie record with “The Devil Asked.” EQUAL2 and Animal Side keep the party going “Til The AM” on a record that showcases the wild style of one of America’s hidden gems. And if that’s not enough, MARKOR and Mutil8 will surely make you “Wake Up” with their blend of metal and uptempo.

After getting a nice pump of speedy hardcore music, Red Hood Squad and Kartypartyy team up on “Lost Control.” It’s always a treat when Red Hood Squad delivers a hard dance banger; this record is no exception. Taking influence from genres all over, this tune seamlessly blends rock, hard psy, and rawstyle in an ambitious hybrid tune that closely resembles the eclectic style of American Hard Dance even though it comes from German producers. To top it off, this tune takes an unexpected turn with a sprinkle of dubstep in both drops.

To close off a hectic compilation, Basscon dives back into the pure hardstyle sound with tunes like “In My Head” by Shei. As a standout in Mexico, there’s no doubt she’s earning her stripes and continues to build up her career with this new Basscon Records release. Furthermore, Rebeld makes his Basscon Records debut with a fresh hardstyle take on the viral record “Be The One.” Backed by the iconic vocals that fans have memorized by now, Rebeld switches it up with a bright melody supported by heavily distorted kicks.

Finally, MUZANA returns from an extended hiatus with his track “Infinite Skies.” After not releasing music in over a year, MUZANA is proud to present his newest transformation into the hardstyle genre. If this is any indication of his future releases, the scene is truly lucky to have him as he captures the true essence of euphoric hardstyle with uplifting vocals, electrifying melodies, and a fun anti-climax full of reverse bass and drifting screeches.

It’s important to note that the one thing I found strange about this edition is that it felt rushed and thrown together. I’m all for Basscon going harder, but I hope they don’t sacrifice quality for the shock factor with this series. Regardless, this is still my favorite series from the label, and I look forward to more banging editions in the future.
