MADGRRL and LNY TNZ dive into the story behind their first-ever collaboration, “TECHNO DRUG.”

The past few years have been nothing short of monumental for hard music worldwide with the rise of today’s fusion of hard techno and hardstyle. Continuing this unique trend has led the scene back to America, where MADGRRL and LNY TNZ finally came together for their brand-new record, “TECHNO DRUG,” released on Group Chat Recordings.

A respected name overseas like LNY TNZ seamlessly combining their style with the relentless energy of a rising talent in MADGRRL is almost unheard of, but both artists have nearly always been connected. “I’ve been listening to LNY TNZ for years going back to when I was deep into hardstyle and hard dance,” MADGRRL told EDM Identity. “Being able to collaborate with an artist I’ve looked up to as a peer is surreal!”

LNY TNZ has always known of MADGRRL’s project, but everything truly clicked after performing at The Homie Collective Campout in Boston last summer. The two went out for coffee when inspiration struck, so they fired up a laptop and got to work. “That raw energy and underground grit turned into ‘TECHNO DRUG,’ a track that perfectly blends my signature hard-hitting style with MADGRRL’s relentless edge,” LNY TNZ said.

“TECHNO DRUG” perfectly captures the magic of hybrid genres as gabber, hardstyle, and techno seamlessly combine to create pure energy. Although LNY TNZ is known for his hard dance productions, he explains that this collaboration was ultimately a return to his roots. “Hard techno has taken a lot of inspiration from the early hardstyle sound of the 2000s. I used to listen to that music a lot back in the day, so making hard techno now feels like coming full circle,” he said.

Even with such a storied career, LNY TNZ is always on the hunt for the next big sound and, in turn, the next best artist. Speaking about this collaboration, he said “MADGRRL has been making serious waves in the techno scene, touring across the US and shutting down stages with her high-energy sets.” Her sound is fresh while delivering a much-needed twist on the underground, which is exactly what LNY TNZ wanted to capture in “TECHNO DRUG.”

With “TECHNO DRUG” out for the world to enjoy, it’s crucial to recognize its importance to hard music in America. It’s not often that a European powerhouse of hard dance teams up with a rising producer from the States, and the scene is lucky to have this stamp of approval. “Being a US-based artist, it’s very exciting to bridge that gap and work with someone who has had such a strong influence on the Euro scene,” MADGRRL said.
