Verknipt Organizes “Biggest Hard Techno Event Ever” in Amsterdam at 40,000 People

Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena played host to more than 40,000 people for the hard techno event Verknipt ArenA.

“Hard techno” has emerged as one of the biggest buzz words in dance music over the past few years, and last weekend stood testament to its power to move the masses. Dutch promoter Verknipt drew 40,000 attendees to an event at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on Saturday, July 20 for Verknipt ArenA, which it has declared the “biggest hard techno event ever.”

Performing at the event were artists like Cynthia Spiering, Ketting, and DIØN, whose fusion of hard dance and techno has come to be known as hard techno in recent years. Even artists like Shlømo, whose style once fell closer to what has been known as hard techno in the genre’s most diehard purist circles, has gotten onboard with this expanded definition as evidenced by his set at the Verknipt gathering.

Perhaps the most talked-about artist on the bill was Sara Landry, however. Arguably one of the biggest breakout stars of 2024, the self-proclaimed “priestess of hard techno” has proven the mass appeal of her chosen style with performances on the stages of festivals as big as EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, and Electric Forest.

Verknipt Records has shared plans to release an album commemorating the event titled Verknipt ArenA. It will include tracks debuted at the gathering such as Shlømo’s “Meet Me In São Paulo” and DIØN’s remix of “Traffic” by Tiësto.

“This album not only showcases the immense talent of our contributing artists but also embodies the energy and spirit of this landmark event,” said Verknipt Records founder Mer Hajbarati.

Verknipt will have its own truck at Rave The Planet, which takes place in Berlin on August 17. After that, it will touch down for events in Poland, Turkey, and Germany.
