Maddy O’Neal, Shylow, and Britt Lari’s “Bliss” sets a dreamy tone as anticipation rises for the Mind Over Matter EP and Maddy’s headline tour.

Maddy O’Neal has captivated fans over the last seven years with her fusion of melodic, funky grooves and pulsating synth-driven basslines with a soulful influence. After the initial success of The Rush EP and her sophomore album Ricochet, she is now teasing her upcoming Mind Over Matter EP, scheduled for release on September 19.

The journey began with the lead single “Free Yourself,” which creates a bright, future bass anthem crafted alongside South Florida’s multifaceted producer Sofasound. Following that was “Woofer,” a track alongside rapper Cleva Thoughts that delivers deep, hard-hitting bass with hip hop twist. “Bliss” is her newest single, which was created the track alongside Canadian future bass producer Shylow and Los Angeles-based vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Britt Lari.

If you want a groovy, future bass tune with a melodic edge, look no further than “Bliss.” The composition of the track merges a future bass aesthetic accompanied by Britt Lari’s euphoric vocals and begins with soft synths before transitioning into delicate vocals upheld by a thumping bassline. The chorus builds towards a vivid, theatrical drop adorned with drifting progressions, evoking a tribute to the future bass sound. Britt Lari’s distinctive harmonies express, “I can feel the heat/Serendipity, taking Over/This is pure bliss.” The song builds with an exciting, funky drum beat that cascades into enchanting synths to conclude the track.

As fans remain patient for the EP’s full release, Maddy O’Neal shared insight about working on the singles and the new EP. She explains, “Each of the singles hone in on a different moment or feeling in life where you feel in tune.” Individually, each song represents a different synergy within the sonic realm. According to her, the lyrics of the melodic tunes “Free Yourself” and “Bliss” encapsulate “a moment when we think about someone, and they call you or text you or when you dream something, and it comes to life.”

Mind Over Matter represents the belief that you can be in control of your reality. This can be interpreted in so many ways but writing a bigger project and finding my flow represented a special moment in time where you are literally creating a vibe to hang out in. Being an artist is such a mental game. You have to find that sweet spot between being able to disconnect just enough to get into a flow state, but also have the confidence and the preparation to trust yourself when you get there. A lot of these songs were born from these moments where I almost just blacked out writing them … the vibe carried me.

Maddy O’Neal

That’s not all, Maddy O’Neal is showcasing her DJ and drum pads hybrid style on her upcoming summer and fall tour. Some festivals where you can catch her include North Coast Music Festival, Same Same But Different, and Cascade Equinox, along with dates in cities such as San Diego, Austin, Dallas, Santa Fe, and more.
