LUPA Releases “Born A Beast” Off Forthcoming EP on mau5trap

Rising techno artist LUPA returns to mau5trap with her latest single, “Born A Beast,” and news of her forthcoming EP on the imprint.

Those who have been keeping their ear to the ground in the techno scene know full well that the next wave of talent is here and LUPA is helping lead that charge into the darkness. Since first breaking onto the scene she’s continued to captivate a growing number of fans who have gobbled up every second of her deep, brooding soundscapes – and now after relocating to Los Angeles she’s flying forward at an even more rapid pace.

While LUPA has graced Do Not Duplicate Recordings and Space Yacht Records, her biggest home has been on mau5trap, where she released two EPs, Insatiable and Salivation along with “Feel You (Beside Me)” on WAF11. These releases helped set the tone for the magic she crafts in the studio, and now she’s returned to the imprint with “Born A Beast,” the lead single off her forthcoming EP, Animosity.

Although Animosity is due out later this year, “Born A Beast” offers a glimpse into the dynamic techno soundscape that will surface with its release. The track features an eerie, unsettling intro with hi-hats, synths, and atmospheric elements that will leave you wondering if you’re living life in the middle of a horror movie from the ’80s. A momentary break for the vocal leads to an immediate drop into the techno depths as LUPA kicks everything forward into a higher gear with plenty of hypnotic energy. From the storytelling nature to the mind-melting bassline “Born A Beast” is sure to leave you entranced.

I came up with the idea for “Born A Beast” while on a music retreat in the mountains. It got dark early, and once it was night there was zero natural light left. I thought about the unknown things or creatures that could be hiding in the darkness of the forest and wanted to capture that uncanny feeling in a song.

As the founder of EDM Identity he has effectively raised the bar on coverage of the past decade’s biggest youth culture phenomenon. After ten years of working for nonprofit organization Pro Player Foundation, Gilmore launched EDM Identity as a media outlet offering accurate informative coverage of the rave scene and electronic music as a whole. Although they cover comprehensive topic matter, they have taken special care in interviewing the likes of Armin van Buuren, Adventure Club, Gorgon City, Lane 8 and Afrojack. In addition to household names, they have also highlighted unsung heroes of the industry through their ID Spotlight segment. Whether he’s covering it or not, you can expect to find Grant Gilmore attending the next big electronic music event. To find out what’s next on his itinerary, follow him via the social links below.
