Simon Doty just announced that he’s set to release his debut album on Anjunadeep, Universal Language, and dropped off its lead single, “Soulflow.”
Canadian DJ and producer Simon Doty has shaken up the scene over the past decade with countless releases in the house and techno realm that captivate the mind and force listeners to dance. While his talents have led him to labels ranging from Einmusika to This Never Happened, he’s also carved out significant space on Anjunadeep in recent years.
In 2022, Simon Doty flexed his production skills on Anjunadeep with the Hometown EP and tracks like “Tattoo” and “Touch The Sky,” the latter of which saw him team up with Marsh. Now, in the first month of the year, he returns to the imprint with even more exciting news – the announcement of his debut album, Universal Language, which is set to arrive on April 28.
This ten-track album is focused on showcasing the dynamic nature of Simon Doty’s sound, which spans from dancefloor-ready house to emotion-fueled melodic techno. “We’re starting to lose the groove in underground dance music,” he said about the message behind Universal Language. “This album is partly about showing people that club music can still be melodic and emotional.”
Fans will have to wait for the album’s full release to hear Simon Doty’s collaborations with artists like Ruth Royall, Artche, My Friend, and more, as well as the solo tracks and his remix of JODA’s “Closer” – but he did drop off one gift to satiate cravings today. Out now across all platforms is the lead single off Universal Language, “Soulflow.” This track offers a deep, groovy ride that’s fit for any night out on the town and sees him team up with Ursula Rucker for added impact with the uplifting vocals that permeate its runtime. If this is a snapshot of what’s to come, then you can expect some greatness in the full release this spring.
