Kaskade celebrates a decade of his hit album Fire & Ice by reimagining its tracks and diving deeper into the melodic realm.
Last year was a massive one for Kaskade as he returned to the stage to play some of the scene’s most beloved festivals and larger-than-life venues once again. While he continued to play some of his most iconic tracks and newer hits to crowds that danced the day and night away, a new era of his sound began to bubble up as he touched up tracks from Fire & Ice. These deeper, melodic cuts were prominently featured during his set at Kaskade In The Park for the 10-year anniversary of the album, and later at EDC Las Vegas, leading to the announcement of Fire & Ice v3.
Paired with the announcement of Fire & Ice v3 this past December was the release of the v3 version of “Turn It Down.” Replacing Rebecca & Fiona’s original vocals in place of Cop Kid, he changed the dynamic of the original to make it drip with deeper emotion. From that moment on, Kaskade dropped a new v3 edit each week for fans to soak in – and now the entire collection is available for everyone to listen to in its entirety.
Each v3 edit offers something new and exciting from Kaskade as he explores the darker realm of progressive house and melodic house & techno. While “Let Me Go” with Marcus Bently and “Room For Happiness v3” with Skylar Grey see their powerful vocals remain, the other tracks carry on with the alteration made on “Turn It Down” by replacing them with an entirely new artist. Notable inclusions on that front are Ella Vos‘ stunning performance on “Eyes v3,” as well as The Moth & The Flame on “ICE v3” and Cayson Renshaw on “Lessons In Love v3.”
While the tracks offer some fresh soundscapes to explore, a few truly stood tall among the rest. The v3 version of Kaskade and Late Night Alumni’s “How Long” is immersive to its core with a moodier beat and claps that wake you back up from the dreamlike state that it puts you in.
Another gem arrives when Lipless joins in on the fun for a bouncy cut of “Llove” that is sure to be a perfect fit for Kaskade’s forthcoming Redux 004 show in San Diego. And if you’re on the hunt for the next track to play while driving around town look no further than “Waste Love v3” that sees PYFER team up with his Arkade boss for a groovy edit that contains a touch of techno for a unique twist.
