Initial news of CharlestheFirst’s passing surfaced from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s press release about the ongoing investigation and was later confirmed by a statement posted to Lab Group’s Instagram account just moments ago. “Amongst many things, Charles was a larger-than-life presence that deeply moved and affected all who knew him,” the statement reads. “A son, a brother, a friend, a poet and an absolutely brilliant musician. He lived his life with a sense of magic and inspiration that most people only dream of.”
CharlestheFirst made a massive impact on the bass music scene over the past few years with albums such as The Ascent and SOLUS, as well as impressing his growing fanbase with performances at festivals like Electric Forest. More recently, he teamed up with Potions and Supertask to form Lab Group with their debut, self-titled EP released over the summer, and also joined Kompass Music Group as well. CharlestheFirst was set to play The Caverns this weekend and was gearing up to make an even larger impact on the scene in 2022. He will be missed.
