Will Clarke & Huxley Provide Techno Potency on ‘Love Somebody’

Maria Clinton
Will Clarke & Huxley

Fan-favorite Will Clarke and fellow UK techno heavy hitter Huxley have teamed up to quench all of our late-night musical desires on Love Somebody!

When it comes to the underground sounds Will Clarke has been pushing himself harder than ever before. In fact, he is fresh off of the birth of his brand new label All We Have Is Now, which sees the tech-house behemoth dive deep into his raw techno desires while he gears up for a massive open to close tour. But for today’s news we turn our attention over to his latest collaborative effort, a brilliant team-up with Huxley on the development of Love Somebody, out now on We Are The Brave.

It has been a couple of years since this dynamic duo made an impact together with the release of “My Body” on Defected Records. But even with the passing of time, it should come as no surprise that when these two come together, Will’s Bristol club roots and Huxley’s UK Garage rave experience make for a match made in dance music heaven. Especially when it comes time to produce music with effect. Continue on below for the beats and read on for my take on the EP!

Throwing all caution to the wind, this two-track EP delivers energy throughout.

As the title track, “Love Somebody” starts spinning its gears, the hypnotic lyric line welcomes us home to romp among loyal percussive kicks, tripped out acid lines, and splashes of reverberating bass. We have come face to face with an incredibly addicting tune which, in my opinion, is a sign that we are looking at a track with undeniable staying power. It is the blending of a tender focus on the importance of love while staying true to the hot techno groove that puts this track up on a pedestal. No doubt that this will be a highlight of many setlists to come.

Just when you think that the airwaves can’t get any more enticing, the duo answer back with “What To Do.”

Dropping even further into our dark techno playground, this track is packed with a mind-warping drum sequence designed around a raging rhythm that will knock you straight out of your socks! It reminds me of what you would find at a gritty warehouse rave, designed with a high octane bang that offers up fierce body shocking character with unyielding peak hour tendencies. What I love most about this track is the rise around the two-minute mark that simmers effortlessly as we are drawn into a hellish coup de grâce. I seriously can’t decide which track I love more. And for that, I say, job well-done guys!

Maria first fell in love with electronic music in the early 2000's when she heard a little tune called "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi. Since then she has dived headfirst into the scene and is wildly passionate about the trance, techno, and tech house genres. Festival's like EDC, Dreamstate, and Dirtybird Campout hold the key to her soul and dance music will always and forever be a major part of her life.
