Are you sick and tired of seeing the same acts at events again and again? Explore some new ones at EDCLV this year!
I am not attending EDC Las Vegas this year. It has eluded me once again. The fireworks, eight stages, and over 200 artists will slip from my grasp another year… on account of other adventures to come, so no need to feel too bad for me. Even still, the 200-plus artist lineup for EDCLV is stacked per usual. There are lots of familiar names like Marshmello, Diplo, Alison Wonderland, and Afrojack on the lineup, all set to light up the night with their sets.
These artists and many more deserve recognition for their continuous contribution to the electronic dance community, but I am more curious about some of these names I do not recognize. The weird names that sound like the end of a corny prehistoric stoner joke or the plays on what sounds like something from Star Wars. Sometimes, those lesser-known artists play the best sets of the weekend, so they are well worth getting to know.
Without further ado, here are some fresh artists that you should get to know at EDC Las Vegas.
San Holo

Flume, Porter Robinson, and Madeon are all names synonymous with ambient, anime-sounding tunes. If that’s your jam, meet San Holo, another artist to be added to that Mount Rushmore. Melodic crescendos soar over the dream-like voices of anime cherubs, all blended with some awesome drops. His real name is Sander van Dijck, and this Dutch DJ has been bleeping on the radar since his remix of Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode.” This trap/future bass musician has also affiliated himself with several well-known labels including OWSLA.
Most recently, our Editor-in-Chief attended the Monstercat party at Miami Music Week where he saw San Holo, and he had this to say: “I think his productions are great and he brings a unique vibe to his set.” He has even managed to piss off Disney, who claimed his name was an obvious rip-off. Regardless, I think it’s a cool name, and he is definitely one to watch out for.
Nebbra

Lights dim and some melodic piano echoes through the room. 808 kicks and ambient synths follow and melt into a crescendo finishing with a deep drop. Light beams down, illuminating a DJ in a football helmet… what is your first thought? I laugh and think to myself, the British are going to love this. What I mean to say is that the French are known for their cheese and wine, and now they can boast a Paris-born DJ in a football helmet.
Do not let the helmet throw you off. In a time in electronic music where a dude can wear a marshmallow or slushy on their head, why not throw a football helmet on? At least it is practical and will surely protect him from most projectiles.
Helmet aside, his sound is on point, a kind of Porter Robinson Worlds Tour ambiance with Skrillex’s Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites thrown in. His Primal Chronicles EP has an attitude to it, a certain uniqueness only a DJ in a football helmet could give. Make a point of checking out Nebbra, another new name that is a definite must for anyone’s EDC Vegas schedule.
K?D
Facebook | Twitter | SoundCloud
My guilty pleasure has always been anime-driven music produced by people like Porter Robinson, Ferry Corsten, and Flume. Now, another new player has been added to the game with the K?D. He has all the elements of that future anime sound that we have come to love from Worlds and Blueprint: big drops, anime vocals, huge crescendos, and gripping synths.
There is not much information out there about this K?D, but it doesn’t really matter. When you have a listen to any of his tracks on SoundCloud, you will make it a point to head over to his set this EDCLV.
BIJOU
Facebook | Twitter | SoundCloud
Arizona is filled with rolling mountains and barren, dry land that is considered to be some of the harshest conditions to live in. And yet, a sound emerges from the desert as Bijou takes center stage. Bijou had his humble beginnings in the local scene around his native home in Phoenix, Arizona. He then caught the eye of fellow house music artists Drezo and Don Diablo, and the rest is history.
Bijou stays true to his house roots, producing some very melodic deep tunes like “Snake Charmer.” Like the name suggests, the track seduces you. Before you know it, you are on Instagram Explore looking at a shuffle video. Seriously – if you enjoy shuffling, go and see this guy.

Los Tioz

I may be late to the party, but something I am just discovering is Latin EDM! What a combination: the seductive whispers of a Latin vocal over echoey, dreamlike house beats or even some saxy moombahton. Los Tioz is comprised of Jay Silva and Noizekid, and they have really caught my ear. I can imagine any of their tracks echoing across the masses assembled at EDCLV, and it will be a sight to behold. Take some seductive Latin sounds and couple that with their enticing electronic vibes. The dancefloor is set for something special with these two.
