in Artist Series

In honor of #TranceGiving, aka Dreamstate SoCal 2016, we want attendees to have the opportunity to get to know the talent who will be our “Trancegiving Tour Guides”. Each week, we will feature bio’s of four Dreamstate DJ’s as well as a set from one of their latest events or some recent releases so you can get to know them better. Next in our series is… Infected Mushroom!

Infected Mushroom:

Infected Mushroom, the Israeli-born musical duo, first formed back in 1996; and are now based out of Los Angeles, CA. The two members, Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani originally released music under the name of Shidapu & Duvdev, but eventually renamed themselves Infected Mushroom in 1999. Under their new name, the duo released their first album “The Gathering” in 1999, which brought about their initial popularity and put psytrance on the mainstream map. Fast forward to 2007, with the duo’s release of the critically acclaimed album “Vicious Delicious,” and Infected Mushroom gained immense worldwide popularity. This album was quite unlike the previous two albums, with a wide-ranging sound and vocal features.  The most popular and well-known track off this album “Becoming Insane” features both Spanish and English vocals, featuring vocalist Gil Cerezo, a singer of the popular Mexican band, Kinky. Their most recent album, released in 2015, “Converting Vegetarians II,” was created as a follow-up to the 2003 “Converting Vegetarians,” which proved to be an incredible one, and brought the duo back to their 2003 psytrance sound. In total, Infected Mushroom has released 8 full length albums, and many EP’s.

Infected Mushroom’s sound can best be described as Psychedelic Trance, with many influences from hip-hop to drum and bass to rock and electro-pop and everything in between, all while sticking to their musical roots. The band performs an impressive average of 120 shows per year worldwide, between their DJ sets and live sets. The “Infected Mushroom experience” is truly unique one. The audience watches them intermix and remix their old and new tracks for an amazing performance, and they never disappoint.

This duo is considered to be one of the best psytrance bands of all time, and their Dreamstate DJ set is definitely worth checking out!
