The first single off the Avicii’s posthumous Avicii album TIM has been released called “SOS” with all proceeds from the release going to charity.
It has been nearly a year since the tragic passing of superstar DJ Avicii and it still doesn’t feel real that he’s gone. While the community has continued to cope with the loss, his family and team broke their silence earlier this month to announce that they would be launching a charity in his honor while also releasing a posthumous album simply named TIM. Today, we now have the first glimpse into what Avicii had mentioned was his best work yet with the first single off the album called “SOS”.
Released ahead of the full album that is due out on June 6, the track features Aloe Blacc who had worked with Avicii on his massive hit track “Wake Me Up”. Blacc’s vocals are accentuated by Avicii’s stunning production style and work in perfect synergy with each other, ending with lyrics “Can you hear me SOS, help me put my mind to rest”. Along with the track, his team unveiled a short documentary that tells the story of the track and how it was produced.

“I feel like SOS was a song that was probably ahead of its time for when he wrote it. He wrote these lyrics obviously about some of his battles and I think it’s a really important topic to approach and to share, especially with his visibility and his access to ears and hearts. To give people the words to be able to say ’I need help.’”
