Randy Seidman and Skyknock Unveil The Ambient Side of “Nutmeg”

Randy Seidman and Skyknock take Infected Mushroom’s psytrance track “Nutmeg” and transform it into an ambient aural journey.

Often hailed as one of the busiest and most humble individuals in the business, Randy Seidman constantly balances multiple different roles. As an artist, he has played gigs around the world, holds a residency at Los Angeles’ Avalon Hollywood nightclub and as a tour manager, is responsible for all things Infected Mushroom. After celebrating 10 years of working with the psytrance masters and wearing multiple hats, Seidman has finally made time to team up with Skyknock to complete a remix of Infected Mushroom’s hit song, “Nutmeg”.

Released in 2016, the original version of “Nutmeg” is well revered by Infected Mushroom fans. The track features hard pounding beats, sprinkled with some psytrance elements and has a hint of classic eerie horror vibes woven throughout. The track has been remixed numerous times, most mixes I’ve heard have been another take on similarly hard-hitting beats. However, Seidman and Skyknock take an all-new approach by transforming this darkness sounds into an ambient, downtempo track!

Stream and Download “Nutmeg” (Randy Seidman & Skyknock Remix) for free via Soundcloud, and read on for my take on the tune below!

Listen to Infected Mushroom – Nutmeg (Randy Seidman & Skyknock Remix):

Beautifully produced, Seidman and Skyknock’s remix invites listeners to sit back, relax and reflect.

The first feelings that came over me was a sense of peace and relaxation. While the original enticed me to get up and dance, the remix is the exact opposite. In true downtempo form, this kept me calm and almost self-reflective as though I was engaged in one of my many mindful sessions.

However, calm does not mean that it won’t hook listeners, as it definitely does. The twinkling melody and aural beauty helped construct alluring visual imagery in my mind that was fully guided by this track. This is a true remix, not a rehashing of the same beats with only slight alterations and you can’t help but go on a vast personal journey when listening. Seidman and Skyknock truly stripped down the original, revealed its core and presented us with their own stunning interpretation.
