Apashe Takes His Sound to a New Level on ‘Antagonist’

Apashe’s Antagonist shows off his dynamic range with collaborators ranging from Flux Pavilion and Rhita Nattah to Busta Rhymes and EARTHGANG.

While Apashe might reside in the bass music realm, it doesn’t mean he hasn’t experimented and pushed boundaries throughout his career. Releases like his 2020 album Renaissance helped showcase his innate ability to blend classical music and trap, while others have seen elements from hip-hop and more added into the mix. Further bolstering his love for classical music has been live orchestral performances and brass ensembles that continue to captivate fans worldwide, with his most recent tour taking place this month.

While Apashe’s faithful followers have immersed themselves in his soundscapes, this creative had something else up his sleeve before the end of the year – his latest album, Antagonist. A steady stream of singles began to appear in the spring after the release of his track with Raga, “Gasoline.” “Fracture,” which saw Apashe enlist Flux Pavilion, Joey Valence, and Brae, landed in July, while the following months saw the arrival of “Revenge of the Orchestra” with Magugu, “Devil May Cry” with Sofiane Pamart, “Human” with Wasiu, and “Lost In Mumbai” with Geoffroy.

These singles saw Apashe flex his creative muscle and were well-received by fans who streamed the tracks and paired music videos, and now there’s even more music for everyone to feast their ears on. Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes arrives front and center as the feature on the lead track, “King,” kicking Antagonist straight into gear with a sick lyrical flow and booming beat that will have you swaying along with it.

Apashe’s solo track “Catch Me” is another immediate stunner with choral vocals, strings, and drums paired with an infectious bass groove that will leave you confused yet hypnotized by its cinematic nature. “Kryptonite” with LIA is another gem with perfectly placed vocals and an energetic beat. And if you need another dose, put on “Contraband” with YMIR for vocals that guide you straight into a breakbeat-fueled ride that you’ll come back to again and again.

Give Antagonist a listen on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay up to date with all things Apashe by following him on social media.
