Sian Spins Up First Volume of ‘Octopus Classics’

Octopus Recordings has become renowned for its techno tunes and Sian is celebrating the story so far with the first volume of Octopus Classics.

Since first emerging from the depths over a decade ago, Octopus Recordings has become a go-to imprint for anyone who is searching for some of the best beats in the techno realm. Over the years there have been countless artists, both new and established alike, who have graced the label with their impeccable sound design. Now, to celebrate their achievements in style, label-boss Sian has unveiled the first volume of Octopus Classics for fans to feast their ears on.

Featuring 14 tracks in total, and a non-stop mix that’s truly the best listening experience, Sian has hand-selected some of his favorites that have been deemed the building blocks of how Octopus Recordings grew into the behemoth it is today. Kicking off with his own tune “Shame Cube” it quickly descends into techno madness with tracks like “J3” by Julian Jeweil, “Express 90” by Maxie Devine, and “Cashmere” by Hidden Empire following shortly thereafter.

A number of remixes also have landed on Octopus Classics that showcase the immensity of the sound the label has brought to the scene. Nicole Moudaber‘s take on “Front Pocket,” Gregor Tresher‘s cut of “Molly,” and Mark Reeve‘s rework of “Medicine Man” stick out as special, while the compilation comes to a close with Pig & Dan‘s spin of “SynthesiZe” to make for the perfect finishing blow.

By staying true to our sound and not listening to anyone telling us we can’t, we have consistently topped the charts and stood on the world’s best stages, underground and overground. The crew we have built and the music we release are the things I’m most proud of in my life. So let’s get straight to it, the artists and tracks speak for themselves, I present a new series digging deep into the Octopus catalogue, every track a stone in the temple we have built.
