After falling down some stairs, INZO has suffered three spinal fractures that have forced him to pull out of multiple festival appearances.
Earlier in the month, INZO pulled out of his scheduled performance at Vancouver festival FVDED in the Park due to a spinal injury. He has now shared that he must also cancel his Saturday, July 25 set at Shambhala Music Festival in Salmo, British Columbia in light of the evolving prognosis.
When he called off the former appearance, INZO (real name Mike Inzano) spoke on the accident that caused his injury. “A couple of weeks ago I fell down some stairs, landed on my back, got the wind knocked out of me and broke my foot,” he shared in an Instagram Story. “Since then my back has been really painful and it hasn’t gotten any better. So today, I went back to the doctor and had it looked at, and it turns out I fractured one of my vertebrae.”
Things took a turn for the worse in the weeks that followed. “After further analysis of my spine, they found 2 more fractures in 2 more vertebrae,” Inzano shared in a later Story. “Traveling out of the country is a bit too strenuous on my body right now… so I will not be playing [Shambhala] this year.”
Inzano continued: “Playing this festival has been on my bucket list for a long time & I’m truly bummed. Hopefully I can come back & play for y’all next year.”
Shambhala’s organizers have had a bad run of luck with artist cancellations this year. Last week, both Whethan and Rusko canceled their performances at the festival. The former cited schedule conflicts with Oliver Tree’s memorial service, and the latter attributed his decision to mental health challenges.
Shambhala Music Festival runs from Friday, July 24 – Monday, July 27. Excision, Dimension, Liquid Stranger, and Boris Brejcha are also among this year’s headliners.
