Industrial rock titans Nine Inch Nails link up with electronic producer Boys Noize for Nine Inch Noize, a remix album that reworks popular NIN tracks with Boys Noize’s gritty production.
Rockstars Nine Inch Nails and renowned DJ and producer Boys Noize are both leading forces in their respective scenes, but the fusion of their styles pushes them into bolder, more impactful territory, further blurring their genre-defying sounds. After a well-received Nine Inch Noize set from critics and fans alike during the first weekend of Coachella, the newfound group released a collaborative album of the same name ahead of the festival’s second weekend.
Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize first crossed paths in 2024 after Boys Noize remixed the soundtrack to Challengers, whose score was composed by NIN’s principal duo, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Less than a year later, they were working together again on Tron: ARES, and Boys Noize accompanied Nine Inch Nails as direct support for their 2026 Peel It Back tour. “The result was so much fun for us, we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way,” Reznor said about the formation of the project.
Unlike a traditional remix album, where artists typically work independently from the source material, this project sees Boys Noize working alongside Nine Inch Nails, reworking the songs through a more collaborative production process. On Nine Inch Noize, the artists reimagine the classic “Closer,” as well as other tracks like “Heresy” and “She’s Gone Away.” It also includes their collaboration from the Tron: ARES movie “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” and a cover of “Parasite” by How To Destroy Angels.
“We recorded this album all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etcetera. We had a lot of fun revisiting these songs and hope you enjoy. Listen loud,” Reznor said.
