Visages and Snowy – Evidently
One for the dubstep and grime history books was finally released last week by none other than 1985 Music. After many teases of their collaboration with Snowy in recent sets and mixes, Visages finally dropped their weapon with the hot vocalist last week as a single ahead of their upcoming EP.
“Evidently” is one of the heaviest, most satisfying 140 tracks this year thus far as Visages remains untouched in every realm of electronic music that they touch. Snowy’s signature “ai ai ai” shouts and accompanying rhymes couldn’t complete the iconic track more perfectly as the vocalist’s popularity keeps skyrocketing within the bass community.
Emily Makis, Dux n Bass, Dread MC, and T-Man – My Type
Emily Makis, Dux n Bass, Dread MC, and T-Man teamed up for what we predict to be one of Summer 2024’s biggest drum and bass bangers, “My Type.” Released last week via Shogun Audio, the addicting, pop-leaning vocal chorus from Emily Makis immediately demands the listeners’ attention and surely won’t leave their brains afterward.
Dread MC and T-Man make the perfect male vocal counterparts to Emily’s flow while Dux n Bass keeps charge of the powerful drum and bass beat beneath.
Torcha – Factory Dub
Following an insane past year of success for the rising star, Torcha has rapidly gained even more support since we spoke with him last, with recent attention from tastemakers like Skream and Zeds Dead.
After months of teasing his upcoming release with Liverpool-based dubstep label LDH Records, Torcha has gifted fans the brand-new three-track EP this week. “Factory Dub” and its remixed counterpart by The Greys are undoubtedly liveset staples with their deep low ends and bouncy wobbles.
togeki and Rakjay – No Validation
Washington, D.C. bass producer togeki teamed up with UK grime vocalist Rakjay this week for their track, “No Validation.” It was released via respected UK imprint Northside Records, and the two rising talents proved a perfect pair on this tune.
As the title alludes, Rakjay spins a rhyme of self-confidence. His words flow amid an East Asian-inspired sonic soundscape woven intricately by togeki for a truly unique blend.
VEIL – THE HOLLOW
VEIL and friends dropped a full-length compilation album last week via her Street Ritual imprint. Revelations features fifteen tracks from rising bass stars like Mistah Dill, Mantra Sounds, JamL, Inspectah, and plenty more to discover.
Label-head VEIL opens the project with hefty, experimental bass sounds on her offering, “THE HOLLOW,” setting the scene for the rest to come on the compilation from a slew of hand-selected artists.
