Martin Garrix, Claptone, Markus Schulz, Rabbit in the Moon, and ZOF delivered house and techno heaters during the week of February 26!
This past weekend was filled with dancing and indulgence at treasured house and techno events, like CRSSD Spring and Kaskade at Avalon. You may have also been distracted by the entertaining Music Through Music lineup reveal for EDC Las Vegas. With things moving and shaking in the scene, who could blame you for missing out on the music releases?
Don’t stress, EDMID’s got you covered. While a great majority of the beats were impressive, there were five that radiated something special. We found ourselves repeatedly smashing replay on an edgy collaboration between Martin Garrix and Seth Hills, a techno weapon from Markus Schulz, and three body-pleasing house treats from Claptone, Rabbit in the Moon, and ZOF.
After bearing witness to why those five tracks had us in a chokehold, feast your ears on more. Some suggestions are Anjunadeep South Africa, the Ultra Music Festival 2024 compilation, and FiNE‘s new track that launched Sippy Time Records. Still hungry? Check out Hannah’s Skyline experience, catch up with Elif and Chapter & Verse, upgrade your hearing protection, and offer support to house icon Jessie Saunders in his time of need.

Martin Garrix, Seth Hills – Biochemical
EDM icon and STMPD RCRDS Boss Martin Garrix closed out the road to the IDEM EP with “Biochemical” alongside friend and colleague Seth Hills. After he premiered the ID at Ultra Music Festival 2023, “Biochemical” remained in Martin’s sets as he traveled the world, leaving revelers begging for its official release.
Well, the wait is no more, and we can finally add the deep, dark stylings of this mainstage banger to our collection! Each energetic rise leads to a labored, yet powerful drop, inspiring the body to contort and the hands to fly to the sky.
IDEM drops this Friday, March 8, and carries the same name as his string of performances at RAI Amsterdam during ADE. IDEM is also said to represent his decade-long trek through the biz, and from Latin, it translates to “the same.”
Claptone – Come With Me
As Claptone prepares to take over Amnesia Ibiza this summer, he made sure to deliver some fresh house beats while we wait. The track’s called “Come With Me” and it has been doing just that, making big impressions at the masked man’s latest gigs.
“Come With Me” earns its spot as the fifth release on Claptone’s brand-new Golden Recordings. While the imprint has featured a handful of the boss’ tracks, Claptone saw special talent in rising star CASSIMM and gave him a seat at the table. We can’t wait to see who else will grab Golden Recordings’ attention.
Getting back to the track, the first thing that pops out is the vocal, rumbling through the room with demanding power. To complement the vocals, Claptone injects rousing percussion and robust synths. It’s an all-out party from the very first beat!
Markus Schulz – Liquid Night
Don’t refresh the page, this is not an error. Yes, Markus Schulz — the trance guru and Coldharbour Recordings king — made it to the house & techno IDchart. In all seriousness, techno has become the norm for him, stemming from his dark Rabbit Hole energy and Dakota alias.
His latest techno styling, “Liquid Night,” oozes into the dance space with tones that seem to have risen from the Mariana Trench. What makes this track extra awe inspiring is the gentle bridge that ultimately shuts down every sound before a loud rattle welcomes back the bassline.
If you’re dying to hear this on the big speakers like us, you may just get the chance at EDC Las Vegas or his open-to-close at MAD Club Wynwood event during Miami Music Week on March 23!
Hawke, God Within – Acid Funk (Rabbit in the Moon’s Drop Out Edit)
It’s been two years since the scene got their hands on new Rabbit in the Moon music, and just like their edgy eye-popping performances, their “Drop Out Edit” of “Acid Funk” has us thoroughly entertained. But first, a little history…
“Acid Funk” was brought to life on vinyl back in 1996 — in the famed Hyde Street Studios SF — by industry innovators Gavin and Scott Hardkiss under the monikers Hawke and God Within. Sadly, Scott passed away in 2013, but his legacy lives on through Dirtybird‘s latest EP release.
Of the lot, Rabbit in the Moon made the most impactful leap out of the speakers. Their recipe: Combine one part acid house with a dash of breaks and a twisted mindset. What does that give you? Intoxication, but without the substances.
In honor of the special release, Rabbit in the Moon took over Dirtybird Radio Episode 433 and now they’re gearing up to join The Crystal Method in Portland, Oregon, and Everett, Washington, on March 20 and 23, respectively. Want to know more about acid house? Dirtybird lays it out in a quick yet informative video.
ZOF – Do It For The Bit
First and foremost, ZOF deserves all the applause for securing her first EDC Vegas booking. If that wasn’t cool enough, she wound up going back to back with Walker & Royce and Mz Worthy at Showbox last Friday! But, it doesn’t stop there. She also released “Do It For The Bit” on FEMME HOUSE Volume 2, a series that bonds LP Giobbi‘s community with Insomniac Records.
The compilation is expansive, featuring 14 party-pumping tracks from a collection of uber-talented women, gender-fluid individuals, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. But, we couldn’t help but gravitate back to ZOF and her cheeky vocal mood lifter. From start to finish, each production element stays locked in a simmer, making this the perfect choice for pre-gaming with the rave fam or when you want to get sassy under the strobes.
