Drumcode Packs a Punch on 12th Volume of ‘A-Sides’

Adam Beyer, Marie Vaunt, HI-LO, Danny Avila, Carl Cox, Massano, and more land tracks on the latest volume of Drumcode’s A-Sides compilation.

Those who want a glimpse into the curative mind of Adam Beyer have historically been able to do so by catching his performances. But if you want to know other tracks that have sparked a fire in his soul over the course of the year, then there’s no better compilation to tune into than Drumcode’s A-Sides series. Past iterations have featured banging techno tunes from established and rising artists alike, and the 12th volume in the series packs quite a punch with its roster of talented artists.

Some familiar faces from the Drumcode family stand tall on Drumcode A-Sides, Vol. 12. There are some magnificent tracks from the likes of HI-LO, Marco Faraone, Marie Vaunt, Chris Avantgarde, and the label boss himself, Adam Beyer, all of which feature that dark, driving Drumcode sound yet off plenty of groove along the way. But there’s so much more on this 20-track compilation to dive into.

Drumcode A-Sides, Vol. 12 features some massive firsts, which include legendary artist Carl Cox joining the ranks of the imprint with a remix of Adam Beyer and DJ Rush’s “Take Me There.” Another artist making their Drumcode debut is Massano, who drops some heat on “Betrayal,” which will send you flying to the moon. Simina Grigoriou offers another standout track on the compilation with “Flight Tracker,” which offers rolling percussion perfect for peak-time madness.

The lead track on the compilation is a stunner as Spanish DJ and producer Danny Avila looks to iconic grime artist Flowdan for “My Crew.” Marrying these two genres wasn’t on our bingo cards this year, but the combination is a match made in underground heaven. Those hunting for some hypnotic rave vibes should look no further than tracks like Kaiserdisco’s “Get on the Dancefloor,” Matt Guy’s “Give Me What I Want,” Marco Faraone’s “RENEMIND,” and Spektre’s “Too Far Gone” to get their fix.

Meanwhile, one of the most unique additions comes from LO’99 and Ray Foxx, who lift everyone up with the bouncy “Skydance” that also shows the range that Drumcode is bringing to the masses. Give this compilation a spin if you’re looking for future-forward sounds in the techno realm, you won’t regret it.
