Drumcode Records founder Adam Beyer whisks listeners away to techno heaven on his new two-track EP, Desert Queen.
Techno powerhouse and record label mogul Adam Beyer has dedicated his illustrious career to elevating techno to the pinnacle of the dance music scene, with this year arguably marking his most monumental yet. The Swedish DJ and producer has carved out a niche for himself as a titan in the techno universe, surging ahead with an awe-inspiring passion and dedication to his craft that has propelled him into the ranks of the genre’s legends. His brainchild, Drumcode Records, has evolved over its 27-year journey into a techno behemoth, showing no signs of slowing its exponential growth.
This year has been a whirlwind for Adam Beyer, marked by a cascade of original EPs and singles that have graced the airwaves, including two jaw-dropping singles with Green Velvet and, more recently, his AI-inspired EP Robotic Arms. Now, as 2023 begins to come to a close, Desert Queen is here to expand on his discography even further. The two-part project is his fourth release of the year, and it’s proving to be, in Adam Beyer fashion, a celestial, bass-heavy masterpiece.
The title track, “Desert Queen,” instantly transports listeners to a pulsing, strobe-lit dancefloor with its haunting bassline and flickering vocal effects sung by Ofra Harza. It’s a perfectly produced techno classic, bringing Adam Beyer’s signature craft to the forefront and reminding us why he’s one of the genre’s prominent faces. Then, “Soulful” adds some house-infused flare while remaining steadfast in its techno roots. It’s a little slice of genre-blending heaven with warmth to awaken the soul and a beat that elevates your heart rate.
