Le Fleur is back from an extended break. She delivers double A-side Chian / Slowdive ahead of her debut album, Väsen!
When the world fell into Coronavirus chaos in 2020, Power Plant founder La Fleur moved back to Sweden. She made the altruistic decision to step away from the studio, to not only focus on the wellbeing of her family but also join the essential workforce. Ultimately, she leveraged her Masters in Pharmaceutical Science to obtain a management role in Stockholm’s hospitals while keeping her love for music production tucked away for another day.
These days she’s been happily DJing in Ibiza and at events like the Minuit Festival, Tbilisi Open Air, and G! Festival, but fans have been patiently waiting for the return of her own recorded music. Today, La Fleur’s double A-side, Chian / Slowdive, puts an end to the anticipation — and the news doesn’t stop here. Come early 2024, her debut album, Väsen, will officially arrive on [PIAS] Électronique.
Reflecting on the past few years, La Fleur says, “I had an album ready in 2020, but I’ve always drawn inspiration not only from music but changing elements in my life. It’s only now I feel the tracks are ready for the world to hear.” Knowing that she poured all of herself into this project, we simply couldn’t be more excited to wrap our ears around the final product.
Until then, let’s take a quick peek into the tracks she so graciously offered up to quench our thirst. First up is “Chian.” This is a robust tune featuring chunky percussion, repetitive vocals, and mesmerizing melodics. The lyrics may beg, “Don’t walk away,” but La Fleur has nothing to worry about when this track comes pumping through the speakers.
Following the previous track’s energy boost, “Slowdive” settles the mood with a sweet sonic flow that fills the dancefloor with beauty. But it also contains a bit of a psychedelic edge, utilizing quirky synths to send the mind into a spin. I visualize this tune as being the perfect set closer, leaving the masses in awe and dreaming about their next La Fleur experience.
As we wait for the completion of Väsen, go ahead and grab your copy of Chian/Slowdive on your favorite music platform. Stream the double A-side on Spotify, and let us know what you think of the tunes on X (formerly Twitter)!
