Pablo Artigas turns the page on The Story Of Mu with the arrival of the second chapter, available now on Individual Identity Music!

One month ago, Atlanta-based producer and Individual Identity Music boss Pablo Artigas lifted the veil on what could be considered his most precious body of work to date. It was called The Story Of Mu, and it creatively opened a window into the life of the beatmaker, delivering a vast array of trance and progressive flavors that Pablo has experimented with and perfected throughout his ten-year career. Today, he finishes the story, excited and ready to hit the ground running toward his next milestone.

In the lead-up to The Story Of Mu: Part 2, Pablo Artigas spent some time in celebration, collecting the trance family together on Twitch for a music marathon full of special guests, uplifting conversation, and giveaways. We were thoroughly fulfilled and excited for the follow-up by the time it ended. To quench our thirst, “Expressive Progressive” was one of three tracks delivered ahead of the drop. The track is bold and bright in all the right places, whisking listeners out of reality and pulling out dance moves you didn’t know you had in you.

With the official arrival of The Story Of Mu: Part 2, fans have seven more tracks to wrap their ears around, and they measure up to their predecessors. But, before we get into my take on the album, note that Pablo is planning the official album wrap livestream party on Twitch next Saturday, September 16. More details are coming soon, so stay locked into socials because you won’t want to miss this!

Without further ado, grab your copy of The Story Of Mu: Part 2 on your favorite music platform, and then continue for our review! Let us know what you think on Twitter!

The second part of Pablo Artigas’ cinema-inspired auditory biography begins with “Memories Of The Fallen.” The track unfolds With soft melodic progression, setting the stage for the spoken word to enter the spotlight. A feminine voice, which can only be attributed to the character, Mu, unveils the fight within her mind, stricken with insomnia-inducing anxiety. Through the chokehold, she reminisces about the ghosts of her past as the mystical soundscape floats listeners down a growing river of emotion. It’s an album opener that packs a heavy punch.

“A Cry For Help” takes the weight of the world off our backs with faithful rhythmic strength. Between its good-natured top-end and a vitalizing build that invites listeners to breathe in the fresh air, the tears on the cheek quickly dry into oblivion. When you reach the drop, you’ll be prancing around your living room dancefloor without care! Once you’ve had your fill, “Soul Searching” offers a pillow stuffed with dreamy melodics to land on before saying sike and charging up the tempo for a feisty shuffle session.

Now that we’ve fired up the thrusters, it’s time to say adios to Earth and revisit planet Mu with a track facetiously titled “WTF.” Reminiscent of “UFO” in The Story Of Mu: Part 1, “WTF” puts us in an extraterrestrial state of mind. We’re greeted with a scrambled galactic signal before making official contact among the massive undulating sound structures. The lyrics add a pop of hilarious yet realistic human expression. Curiosity to explore planets outside of our own raises the question, “When Will We Learn?” Because curiosity has been known to kill the cat. But Pablo takes adventure head-on and translates it into a track that strongly enforces our innate cosmic fascination.

Although wanting this album to go on forever is easy, we’ve reached the final two tracks. “The Steps We Take” brings us one step closer to understanding Pablo as both musician and human, conceptualizing a lifetime journey using peppy beat patterns and contemplative piano stabs to represent the walk. With the feet moving at the perfect pace, we’re chucked back off the terra by “Perihelion,” a vivacious tune that spins us through the universe, implementing sounds the size of the sun to drive the point home.

The Story Of Mu: Part 2 pushed Pablo Artigas’ artistry to new heights, making fans hungry for what will come next!

Along his double album journey, Pablo Artigas has stepped out of the pack and become his own. His dedication to detail has pushed him to explore eccentric cinematic sound realms and weave them into his work, giving the trance community something extra special to consume. While Mu will forever remain an enigma, Pablo has gifted us with the opportunity to stretch the legs of our imagination, thus turning the dancefloor into a limitless playground.
