Chief Kaya brings his dynamic bass style back to Infernal Sounds once again with his latest three-track EP, Metaphysics.
Chief Kaya is one of few dubstep producers pushing the UK sound in the South for over a decade, residing in East Tennessee with a huge love for sound system music and culture. While he generally keeps a low profile, with shows few and far between, he frequents local events like Sound Haven and The Astral Project and has made past appearances at places like Infrasound, Kosmic Kingdom, and The Black Box.
Chief Kaya has released on many labels over the years, from his home record labels Defy Culture and Sacred Hive to noteworthy overseas imprints like Foundation Audio and Duploc. Some of his most popular tunes have come out of Stoke-on-Trent-based Infernal Sounds, like his bangers “Supreme” and “God Mind,” which hit all too perfectly live. Now Chief Kaya is back with three new tunes via the label on Metaphysics, and the seasoned 140 producer does his thing flawlessly once again on the project.
The opening track, “Evolution,” kicks off the EP with a bouncy, wobbling flair that introduces ears to the classic Chief Kaya style before easing directly into the following track, which becomes impossible to sit still for. “Metaphysics” only gets more satisfying as the tune progresses with its addicting, head-nodding beat, and as the clear standout of the release, it is a perfect fit for the title track. Chief Kaya continues to show off his signature sound in the final offering, “Philosophers Stone,” whose unique sonic details offer an ode to classic reggae sound system music to bring it to a close.
Metaphysics is out everywhere now, so be sure to head over to Spotify or your preferred platform with your best set of speakers to hear this one for yourself.
