Greenhaven DJs Drop Stunning EP on Wake Your Mind

Brooklyn-based trance duo Greenhaven DJs found a home for their latest release, Vagabond, on Cosmic Gate’s Wake Your Mind Records.

As many artists in the electronic music realm continue to layer trance elements into their tracks to add depth, a fresh duo from New York, Greenhaven DJs, is intent on championing the genre and showing off how immersive it can be. The story behind this project began when Trevor Haimes and Nicolas Mendoza Conner first met in the Greenhaven neighborhood and found common ground with each other as artists. From there, they began to carve out their space as Greenhaven DJs, releasing tracks on labels including Perfecto Black, Flashover Recordings, and Black Hole Recordings, among others.

Last year, Greenhaven DJs took the next step in their career by teaming up with legendary duo Cosmic Gate to release “Retrospection” on Wake Your Mind Records. Now, this single has found a home on their latest EP, Vagabond, which features a collection of other gorgeous progressive-fueled trance tunes that will whisk you away to a different state of mind.

Joining the aforementioned collaboration is the EP’s title track which opens with dark, eerie elements littering the soundscape as listeners drive forward into the unknown depths. Their cinematic sound is fully displayed in this one with swelling synths, powerful drums, and frantic breakdowns as the seconds tick away. On the flip side, Greenhaven DJs’ remix of Cosmic Gate’s “Analog Feel” features more booming mainstage-ready trance elements while retaining uplifting moments that will make your heart flutter. And then it’s right back to the dark, atmospheric region of their minds with “Conjure,” a track that builds relentlessly before dropping off with a few short breaths to bring the EP to a close.

While the Vagabond EP shows off the unique style that Greenhaven DJs bring to the scene, their recently premiered performance from the Brooklyn Army Terminal in New York reinforces the notion that this duo is one to watch. They twist everything from trance to techno into this set with curated tunes from SAMA, Mat Zo, Arnej, Fatum, and more. Make sure you give it a spin.

As residents of Brooklyn, we have a strong affinity with the borough, and we had a long list of spaces we were interested in. The dystopian brutalist architecture of the Brooklyn Army Terminal however was our first and foremost! Once we started reaching out we found there were many obstacles, but through sheer luck, legwork and some connections we ultimately managed to secure it. We also had the privilege to be the first DJs to perform in the Warehouse B atrium on the main railroad tracks themselves, which was a trip in itself. We are still pinching ourselves and are incredibly grateful to all those who helped make this live stream happen!
