in Album Review

Sable Valley brings the next round of visionaries to Sable Valley Summer Vol. 4, featuring VILLA, Dabow, Skellytn, G-Buck, and more!

The Sable Valley label is recognized for setting the standard for trap and wave music, and it has easily become a fan favorite since its inception in 2019. Created by renowned trap legend RL Grime, the label is a hub many look to for inspiration and listening pleasure alike. As a result, fans have remained loyal to the label in order to gain insight into what RL Grime is listening to, pushing forward as the next generation of beat smashers.

Sable Valley continues to not only uplift these rising artists, but also hand them to listeners on a silver platter through the annual Sable Valley Summer compilation. Previous editions have included music from artists such as Hex Cougar, Control Freak, Baauer, Knock2, and JAWNS. This year’s edition somehow surpassed our expectations and came wrapped neatly with a bow on top, featuring a whopping 15 tracks from music makers like SLUMBERJACK, Just A Gent, REMNANT.exe, MSFT, Keenan Mathias, and more.

Sable Valley Summer looks a little different this time around, with some new and old names, and plenty of heat to go around.

Sable Valley Summer Vol. 4 takes off with Bristol-based duo Disaffected. Their track, “BSLIR,” brings an air of intrigue through their ominous intro, quickly erupting into heavenly breaks and a synth-fueled beat. JAWNS, a Sable Valley regular takes over next, going full steam ahead with “Foamer.” He picks up the pace with electrifying energy to get listeners jumping. Moving forward, Skellytn takes the lead. She’s a drum and bass savant on whom we highly suggest listeners keep an eye. Coming off the release of her EP Megacorporation, she brings forth another smoking hot track from her arsenal called “Cipher,” delivering an unforgiving energy felt in every kick.

Lizdek and Ivoryghost team up to unleash “Aker,” a layered track that takes listeners through an exhilarating experience with bass and breaks. Cerdin and Squired aren’t far behind with their collaborative track, “GASLEAK,” featuring chopped vocals and a beat that gets heads knocking right until the breaks come in. Next, coming in hot is Philadelphia-based artist G-Buck, who brings music consumers a track that easily stands out, and will make them wanna shake it until they have to catch their breath.

Further down the line, Argentinian trap legend Dabow calls on Jessy Covets to deliver the vocals on “Runnin It Out.” The two come together to compose a beautiful track that keeps it fun with percussion and tantalizing vocals. No stranger to Sable Valley, VILLA makes her return with “anti.” She tries something different with a hardwave track, featuring a heavy bass inclination that brings a powerful presence. Another collab to note comes from CAB and Virus Mafia. Called “KILLERSOUND,” it more than lives up to its name with killer energy and heavy sub-bass. Listeners will definitely be blasting this one on repeat.

Coming to the end of a Sable Valley Summer compilation is always a bittersweet feeling.

This year’s edition brought us some artists to watch, as well as some legends and new favorites. As we wait impatiently for the next Sable Valley Summer, listeners can hit replay on Vol. 4 to their heart’s content. Be sure to follow Sable Valley and all of their featured artists to keep up with their future releases! And a happy Sable Valley summer to all who celebrate!
