Dance-pop vocalist Kah-Lo has announced her long-awaited debut album pain/pleasure, and dropped off a new single, “GD Woman.”
Few vocalists, in the dance scene or otherwise, have as commanding a presence as Nigerian artist Kah-Lo. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve undoubtedly heard her ear-catching vocals on “Fake ID,” the collaboration with acclaimed producer Riton that has circulated all around social media and played out on dancefloors all across the map. Maybe you’ve paid a listen to Foreign Ororo, her 2018 collaborative album with Riton that’s filled with dance-pop anthems like “Fake ID” as well as “Rinse & Repeat,” “Ginger,” and more. But her sassy vocals and witty lyrics have lent themselves to a wealth of other fun tracks since then, and if you haven’t checked them out, the time to do so is now.
Kah-Lo’s bubbly, irresistible tunes can provide some sparkle to any setting, whether it’s a night out at the club with your besties or a summer day spent by the poolside. Look to her 2021 EP, The Arrival, for a healthy dose of attention-grabbing jams that will summon you to your feet without fail, or press play on tracks like “Drag Me Out” and “It Girl” for a surge of energy. But the latest and greatest from Kah-Lo finds her delivering some of her most zestful vocals and groovy instrumentation to date. “GD Woman,” her new single, is a certified bop that features empowering lyrics guaranteed to make you feel like the best version of yourself upon listening.
“GD Woman” follows the release of recent singles “fund$” and “Karma,” and what’s more, all three tracks will be featured on Kah-Lo’s just-announced debut LP pain/pleasure. Due out this fall, the forthcoming album will be the Grammy-nominated artist’s first full-length project – and, if her prior works are any indicator of what we can expect, pain/pleasure will unleash the inner bad bitch in all of us. Prepare for the album’s arrival by indulging in Kah-Lo’s latest singles, and let the female empowerment wash over you with full force.
