Carla Durisch Takes the Next Step with ‘I Just Wanna Dance’

Carla Durisch isn’t just an amazing DJ – she’s proving her talents in the studio with her debut EP that’s landed on Crosstown Rebels!

Zurich’s beloved DJ and Sunday Sessions creator, Carla Durisch, has always had a knack for music, obsessed with a broad pallet of hip-hop, house, soul, bass, disco, indie, and more. With inspiration in tow, she took the German scene by storm, spinning beats all over Berlin before heading back to Switzerland in 2019 to place her focus on production. While she has been hard at work experimenting with deep house and techno featuring her own poetry, this past weekend, the eclectic music maker unleashed her first signed release to the masses, and Crosstown Rebels was the label that scooped it up!

It seems as if label boss Damian Lazarus has had his eye on this bright rising star for some time now, calling her to work her magic on The Crosstown Mix Show and inviting her to play Get Lost Miami before bringing her along as his opening act at the legendary Hi Ibiza this summer. With dancing at the forefront of these parties, I Just Wanna Dance is the perfect representative of Carla’s persona as well as the inspiration you need to drop what you’re doing and bust a move!

After almost a decade of DJing, the pandemic’s slow pace compelled me to continue to explore production. It wasn’t long until I was hooked, and experimenting with sound became a part of my daily practice. My debut EP features a selection of my first completed tracks, capturing a period when I yearned for escapism, joy and a more lively existence.

So let’s get into it. “I Just Wanna Dance” features Nanghiti, a magnetic Surinamese-Caribbean soul singer and songwriter. The track is chock full of festive uplifting energy, and the yearning vocals ooze with passion and peak-hour flair. It’s impossible to have a bad time when this offering is sashaying through the airwaves, so jump on the vibe and shake your stress away! Carla’s close friend and colleague, Seth Troxler, wanted in on the fun, so he dropped off a fresh rendition perfect for the bustling after-hours. It’s drenched in trippy synth chords and intriguing acid effects to dazzle the senses delightfully.

The latter half of the package keeps self-expression flowing on the dancefloor. In fact, “Be The Thing” allows the music consumer to be whatever they want as they close their eyes and allow the captivating rhythm to take over their mind’s eye. This track sizzles and sparks with rave-ready undertones that work hand in hand with the motivational spoken word. Carla places a bow on this riveting experience with “4AM,” a track that keeps listeners locked into the groove as the rest of the world is tucked into a dream state. She tackles the closer by employing bright percussive details to energize the cells while her voice gracefully hypnotizes the human attached.

With that, Carla Durisch has officially arrived, so be a part of her uprising and grab your copy of I Just Wanna Dance on your favorite music platform!
