Dirtybird Campout will not take place this year due to the festival not being able to find a new home in Southern California.
It’s a sad day for the flock as it was just announced that Dirtybird Campout, which would normally kick off the first week in October, will not be taking place this year. After experiencing a few growing pains at their new home at the Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds in California, the summer-camp-style festival was destined to have to find a new home, and it appears that the quest has run into a major speedbump.
This morning, Dirtybird released a full statement that acknowledged their vision for moving closer to Southern California and that they will notify the flock as soon as they confirm placement for their 2024 edition. “We’ve been looking for a new location that’s closer to Southern California, but we’re not finding a solution that works,” their statement read. “We know how much Campout means to you and us, and it makes this decision all the more difficult to make.”
Unfortunately, they didn’t provide much more information than that, and one can only speculate if it was due in part to rising venue costs, community pushback, or any of the other issues plaguing boutique festivals since attempting to bounce back from the pandemic. Regardless of the reason, we trust that Dirtybird will work everything out, and we know that the reunion will be one for the books!
While we may not be communing lakeside this fall, Dirtybird CampINN at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida is still on, and the second phase of the lineup has just emerged. So, turn that frown upside down and get ready to party the weekend away poolside on June 8-11! Of course, this party comes with all the Dirtybird Campout vibes, featuring games, activities, and more, like Great Bingo Revival, drag shows, talent shows, and twerk competitions. Tickets for CampINN are available, so grab them now and then continue on for the full statement about Dirtybird Campout.
