Martin Garrix and Maejor breathe life back into their AREA21 alias by delivering a first-ever live performance and a companion album.

After Martin Garrix revealed his hip-hop alias, AREA21, in 2016, he delivered a few tracks in his Ultra Miami set, followed by several singles throughout the year. Recently, the two artists reunited to perform a few tracks at EDC Las Vegas in 2021, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating a full-scale set from the project. Flash forward to the present, and the duo has reunited to create something truly special – a live set that was brought to life for fans worldwide to check out.

During AREA21’s 46-minute set, the duo showcased their musical talent and storytelling ability, with Martin Garrix on guitar throughout the performance and Maejor delivering the rap verses while being backed up by a full live band and a stunning pyrotechnics display. The high-energy performance was a testament to the duo’s unique blend of electronic dance music and hip-hop and their ability to captivate audiences with their boundary-pushing approach to music-making.

We’ve always been dreaming of having AREA21 on stage with a band. The music on the album has been made with a lot of live instruments like real bass, real drums, so it’s amazing to be able to put that into a full live performance now.

Additionally, the duo dove into the backstory behind the project, providing everyone with an insight into their creative vision and the conceptual themes that drive their music. “This is the beginning of an evolution of the music and sounds of AREA21,” Maejor said. “It’s a great opportunity to show different sides of the project and introduce people to things they haven’t seen from us yet.”

AREA21 performed some of their most beloved tracks, including “La La La,” “Glad You Came,” “We Did It,” and the fan-favorite “Spaceships.” The live set commenced with their hit single “Own the Night” and concluded with an electrifying performance of “Going Home,” bringing people together with their lyrics and motivational music. With their catchy melodies and infectious beats, AREA21 succeeded in creating an unforgettable experience for their fans, reminding them of the power of music to bring people together in celebration and unity.

Fans who missed out on AREA21’s electrifying live performance can now stream the full set on various streaming platforms. In the United States, the performance is available on Hulu, while in Latin America, it can be accessed on Star+. The performance is available on Disney+ under the Star banner for all other territories. Stream the live album on Spotify, and let us know your thoughts on Twitter!
