NASAYA Shows Off His Dynamic Style on the ‘RÊVES’ EP

French producer NASAYA releases his four-track RÊVES EP on Foreign Family Collective, and it’s fit for dancefloors worldwide.

NASAYA is a Berklee College Of Music graduate, a genre-defying musician, and an invigorating artist who offers up unique, refreshing sounds in the electronic music scene. Based in Los Angeles, the producer has been hard at work this past year while recently supporting Odesza on their The Last Goodbye tour. Now, he’s released his latest body of work, the RÊVES EP, on Foreign Family Collective.

NASAYA’s signature style comes from jazz, experimental dance music, hip-hop, pop, and even classic rock, and he uses all of these influences to create some exquisite beats on RÊVES. There’s a hyper-pop sound and feel with breakbeat drum patterns, pulsing synths, and smooth progressions making it a journey through a fascinating soundscape.

The EP is definitely ‘darker’ and more visceral than songs I’ve previously released. I’ve always wanted to release a project like this because I feel like it’s the only way for me to channel certain emotions – and I feel like this sound is a big part of what I wanted my project to sound like when I originally started it.

The first two singles released from the EP, “CIEL” and “RUMMELSBURG,” gave listeners a taste of what was to come. “CIEL” leads the way with stuttering vocal chops and a quick beat that’s sure to get you grooving on the dancefloor, while “RUMMELSBURG” shows off deeper elements with a touch of acid techno and masterful use of the 303 basslines.

The title track, “RÊVES,” contains a solid cadence in the drum patterns, with a short vocal loop that is completed with melodic pads and synths. Just like the first three tracks, the fourth, “TES YEUX,” also features creative methods using breakbeat patterns and complex polyrhythms to create solid foundations for the tracks. The use of the tasty licks from the guitar adds just the right amount of flavor to make it feel complete.

While everyone is used to the frequency of new house, techno, and bass music, it is always a wonderful thing to add new artists to your catalog and discover new sounds because NASAYA and this EP provide just that.
