Justin Jay Makes ‘You’ Dance with His Latest Tunes

Dynamic DJ and producer Justin Jay looks to Desert Hearts for his latest funky release filled with house grooves, the three-track You EP.

Is there anything that Justin Jay can’t do? It’s hard to answer that question with a “yes” because this multi-talented artist has only continued to impress since first emerging on the scene. Whether he’s dropping some serious heat behind the decks, taking the stage to play with a band, curating fresh faces and helping usher in the next generation of the scene on Fantastic Voyage, or producing some solid grooves, he seems to be able to do it all.

While many of Justin Jay‘s releases have landed on labels like Dirtybird, Trick, or his own imprint, a handful of his beloved tunes also have found a home on Desert Hearts as well. His Future Feels EP landed on the label in 2019 to bring house lovers “Rave Tool” and its title track, and now he’s made his grand return with three fresh jams on the You EP.

Leading the charge is the titular track “You,” which sees Justin Jay flex his abilities in inducing rave nostalgia by layering powerful vocals over a funky tech house beat that is littered with glitchy elements and stabs. You can quickly imagine this track being played poolside or even in a darkened warehouse, it’s just perfect for any party in all honesty. Those vibes continue on “Satellite” as Justin Jay takes everyone to the cosmos for a quick trip. It’s almost alien in nature, yet comforting at the same time as the beat captivates the soul and makes feet shuffle along with it.

Just when you think you won’t stop floating higher into the atmosphere, “Nüdrug” enters speakers to ground you once again. This minimal beat is defined by the thudding bassline that will make everyone bump along with it before those spacey elements and some vocals arrive to add a touch of flair. This is one to play during those afterparties when you’re keeping the night rolling well into dawn – and now that shows are back, we’ll hopefully see him spin it during a sunrise set sooner rather than later.

Listen to the You EP on Spotify or your preferred platform, and let us know what you think of these fresh tunes from Justin Jay in the comments!
