Brace yourself with a box of tissue and press play to the latest from Subsidia, Dawn: Vol. 4 which features a plethora of sounds in the bass realm.
With the states opening up again from the pandemic, Subsidia’s label head, Excision wasted no time and made moves to host shows again, announcing Lost Lands and Bass Canyon, all while working with up and coming talent and releasing new music under his recently founded imprint. The bass music maestro and festival curator continues his run through 2021 and, shows no signs of slowing down. Since its inception just less than a year ago, Subsidia Records has dropped over ten compilations and now has just added the latest, Dawn: Vol. 4.
It has been established that the Dawn chapters of all three compilations (Dusk, Night, and Dawn) to be on the softer, more chill, and melodic dubstep reaches of the bass music genre. And, well, the newest edition, does not disappoint. Dawn: Vol. 4 clocks in at 10 tracks and features a roster of fresh and returning faces. In fact, if you’re in search of new music, talent, and connecting with meaningful lyrics, then this collection is for you.
From the first to the last tune, expect to feel connected if you are currently disconnected from someone or help strengthen you while you continue on your path of letting go. Whether you’re immersing yourself in the sounds of Excision, Dion Timmer, and Monika Santucci, N3WPORT and Meggie York, Raiin, or FIGMVNT, one thing is for sure – these songs will definitely stir up an outburst of emotions.
While the songs on Dawn: Vol. 4 were all great, three immediate standouts were “Eyes Closed” from Brainrack and Eyezic featuring ALLEYCVT, “Take Me Back” from AVELLO, and Aych’s “Save Me” featuring RIELL. Each one of these tracks presented a lighter taste of the heavier headbanging sounds we all know and love, and left a lasting impression after hearing them from start to finish.
Brainrack and Eyezic’s “Eyes Closed” with ALLEYCVT leans more on the melodic trap and gives emotive feelings, but still hits listeners with dirtier drops. Similar to that tune. Avello’s “Take Me Back” serves up that melodic dubstep and towards the end, switches up the mood and offers that filthier taste, and brings it back to a cry-like session. And much as its name implies, Aych’s “Save Me” very much sounds like a cry out to be saved with RIELL’s heart-wrenching vocals and carries heavier, distorted, and wompier sounds throughout.
While those tracks stood tall, surely, there’s something for everyone and you will resonate with if you love the melodic side of the spectrum in the bass realm. Make sure to open up your preferred streaming platform and chill to some laidback music from a number of talent that poured out their hearts on Dawn: Vol. 4.
