SHARPS gives us an exclusive listen to his single “Desires” – a track off his forthcoming EP, Trenches, on Rude Service Records.
From the beginning of his solo career, SHARPS has been creating an irresistible sound in the bass music realm in the studio while dominating the decks as well. It seems that the past year while on hiatus served as not just a time for healing but one that was productive as well. This year, he’s reemerged and brought forth astonishing soundscapes for listeners to explore with releases such as “Back To You” and “Everybody,” which was featured on Bassrush‘s latest volume of their compilation series, The Prophecy.
Now SHARPS has delivered the news that his latest release, the dark and mind-blowing Trenches EP, is set to surface on July 13 via Rude Service Records. Ahead of the drop tomorrow, though, he looked to give everyone a taste of what’s in store on the full collection of tunes with a first-listen of “Desires” that’s filled to the brim with stunning bass and emotional energy.
“Desires” creates a melancholic atmosphere, while still giving us that classic bass-heavy sound that SHARPS has made his own over the years. The song begins with simple vocals to bring listeners into a vulnerable place and makes them think of a special someone, all while speaking from a place of yearning and emotion, all while building up to an emotion-fueled payoff that manifests itself in the drop that’s filled to the brim with powerful tones.
I think ‘DESIRES’ is a perfect blend of the light and the dark that are within the EP. Starting off melodic and transitioning into a heavier section was essentially just all about finding a healthy balance, something that applies to all aspects of life.

There’s absolutely something to be said for an artist talented enough to combine such opposite elements into a beautiful song that still satisfies bass cravings. SHARPS is definitely not an artist to be underestimated, and if this track is any telling of what the EP holds for us, we’re definitely in for a ride.
