It’s the dawn of a new era for This Ain’t Bristol with the label’s relaunch and release of Marc Spence’s two-track EP, On The Floor.
Last summer, the future of famed house imprint This Ain’t Bristol was uncertain after assault allegations surrounding Billy Kenny surfaced and the label was put on indefinite hiatus. Back in June, activity surfaced on their social media accounts as they announced there would be a relaunch of the label under new management by Label Worx, with the intention of reclaiming the brand and delivering their signature good vibes house sound once again.
Now, This Ain’t Bristol is back in business and has brought forth the first release to grace the label in nearly a year from the mind of Marc Spence. Previously dropping tunes like “Nasty” and “Morning After” on the imprint, he looked to create an EP that will tantalize house lovers and get them grooving away to the beat. The result of his work is the two-track On The Floor EP, which brings forth a flurry of classic vocal house soundscapes backed by beefed-up basslines that will make your heart thud right along with them.
It was great news to hear that This Ain’t Bristol had been completely taken over by a team of people I not only have massive admiration for but mainly for the fact that one person’s actions will not be able to ruin such an awesome thing that so many good people and great artists have worked so hard for over the years.

The title track “On The Floor” leads the charge with its infectious hook and groovy beat that will surely have anyone listening shuffling away in a matter of seconds after pressing play. The infusion of throwback vibes on this one, as well as its vocals, will transport you back in time to underground raves during the summer of love. Then, Marc Spence looks to his friend Dr Love for another house heater in the form of “Like Dat.” Putting the percussion front and center and layering in some vocal samples along the way, this track really pops and is a solid addition to any playlist or mix this season.
