Deep, Dark & Dangerous founders Truth gives fans a taste of what’s to come with “Pages,” the first track from their forthcoming album.
There is no question that the masterminds behind Truth know their way around a studio. The duo has an eclectic pallet for all things around the 140bpm spectrum of bass music. Which makes sense seeing as their imprint is the infamous Deep, Dark & Dangerous. Tristan and Dre have graced fans with sets all over the world, on top of countless releases. As well as their quarantine sessions which took place over the course of the pandemic. Now, they have their fifth album in the works, Acceptance, which is set to release in the fall, but today they’re giving fans the first taste of the project with “Pages.”
Anytime there’s a new Deep, Dark & Dangerous release it’s always something so special for members of the deep dubstep community. Something about the sounds on the label just hit home and seem to transport listeners to alternate dimensions, especially when it comes from Truth. The duo has the fundamentals of bass music locked in and you can certainly hear that with “Pages.” While not as heavy of a tune, it’s still packed with low-end and uncanny soundscapes to immerse yourself in.
Truth slowly eases listeners in with a multitude of sounds that will leave you wondering what’s next. Throughout the track’s entirety the two weaves in subtle drums and kicks, accompanied by almost eerie yet lighthearted sounds. You’ll find yourself bobbing your head and being taken on an audio-visual journey through their sound. That slowed down, deep dubstep just hits something in the soul that always feels so right.
Speaking on their forthcoming album, Truth had this to say: “‘Acceptance’ is a deeply personal musical experience for us where we have bared far more of ourselves than in previous albums. It’s more of a piece that says who we are. We chose ‘Pages’ as the lead track because it embodies everything about this release that we are proud of. It’s poignant and nostalgic, while also existing in a dreamlike, lush, yet slightly eerie space. With this track, we hope to evoke in the listener that feeling that you get when you come across a long-forgotten memory“
If this is just a taste of what’s to come with the rest of the album we’re in for a treat – especially with this being their first big release since quarantine. It feels like we’re all turning the page and starting a new chapter, one with live music and all sorts of new sounds.
Take a deep breath, let go and let Truth carry you away through their sounds. Stream the track on your preferred music platform and be sure to keep an eye out for more singles from the album coming soon.
