Acclaimed duo Booka Shade returns with four brand new tracks on Blaze of Unity marking their second release of 2020 and the latest on Blaufield Music.
Since 2004 Booka Shade has been a name that has become synonymous with house music royalty. The Frankfurt-based pair is fresh off the release of their latest full-length record, Dear Future Self, which has received wide-spread praise from the world’s most renowned selectors. Today the duo return with their latest EP, Blaze of Unity, that’s out now on their label Blaufield Music.
2020 has been a massive year for the duo who also received recognition for the remix LP More, which features seven all-new remixes to the iconic 2010 studio album. Booka Shade has enacted a chameleon-like approach to the global house music scene. They constantly transform and adapt their sound to the cutting edge of dance trends while always staying one step ahead of the status quo.
Blaze of Unity opens with “State of Grace” a breakbeat inspired intro welcomes us to their world before giving way to a dark and ominous kick-snare rhythm. A stabbing and atmospheric synth control the vibe as Booka Shade’s polished, yet sinister soundscapes take hold. “Blush 9” comes as a shimmering example of their ability musically bridge periods in time as the arpeggiated synth leads and bouncing pads transport us back to the sounds that built their storied reputation.
Blaze of Unity pushes on into the third track, “Time Traveller,” as Booka Shade thrusts us into the future with their masterful production. A driving kick-snare pairs perfectly with a gleaming synth melody and an infectious percussion section defines the duo’s unmistakable sound. The EP’s title track “Blaze of Unity” carries listeners home with some hypnotic dance floor destroying energy that permeates the track and will command festival crowds and clubs alike, a true hallmark of Booka Shade’s unmatched style.
